Don't leave crystal balls on your windowsills you could burn your house down.

just noticed smoke coming through what I though was the window, turned out it was a CB magnifying the sun on my UPVC widowsil..

Caught it before it caught a proper light.
 
They were discussing this on the radio the other day, seems it's not that uncommon and a few people that phoned in weren't as "lucky" as you. Seems there have also been a few issues with fish tanks as well. !
 
I've done something similar with the little magnifying mirror I used to use so I could put my contact lenses in - managed to melt part of the window frame!

That was before I could do it without a mirror :naughty:
 
Quite a few years ago, I used to juggle and had a pair of clear plastic balls for manipulation (contact juggling). In the box was a warning about leaving them in full sunlight - surprised there isn't one in crystal ball packaging. Maybe the manufacturers think the buyer should be able to foresee the potential problem!

Sorry to disappoint you lot.

E2A It was left by my ex so I never took any notice until there was fire.
