Looks like the troubles have started. Already for the F 1 circus, seemingly team members asking to leave.

Knew this was gona happen (gut feeling):-(

Force India have fled petrol bombs !!!

BBC news said it was not targeted at the force India vehicle, they just got caught up in a protest in the City.

I am of the opinion though, that they never should have gone.

Greedy Bernie ecclestone will allow any race as long as gets his money.

Especially as, if reports are true, he happens to have a reason to stay in London this weekend so hasn't travelled himself :nono:

ETA: Perhaps Rachel Brooks' question wasn't so stupid after all, eh Bernie? ;)

I have to agree 100%.

the teams are in a difficult position contractually, the FIA dictated the race would go ahead, therefore they go. But I'd like to have seen them (or the drivers) refuse. I don't honestly see how the FIA can declare it a safe environment to house a race.

I hope that if the race does go ahead that it passes without incident and all return home safe and well.

Aaaah yes - once again 'sport' takes second place to money:shake:

Some interesting comments on the BBC F1 website about misgivings - but nobody actually has the b******s to defy the money grabbing vertically challenged one. Or the FIA, of course:lol:

Lets just hope that not too many locals are hurt over the weekend, (or at all really, but that ain't going to happen), and that the circus can move on to more sensible destinations.

I look forward to watching the race. But am fearful of something stupid happening. Which I sincerely hope doesn't. But it's an open invitation whilst the world watches on TV to "promote" their cause.

They should not have gone there.

McLaren are partly owned by residents of that country and so won't have a lot of choice I suppose, the rest do as instructed and are contracted to attend.

Fortunately if they do only those with sky will be likely to see it in the UK since it's highlights for the BBC

Probably shouldn't have gone, but I'm kinda glad cos it means this track should be in the F1 2012 game.

Government now saying the race should not go ahead, and Bernie offers to stay with force India at track.

....Bernie offers to stay with force India at track.

I actually choked on my lunch when he came out with that. Like he's some sort of special forces protection expert!

(As an aside, looks like he's changed his original plans to show his face in Bahrain)

I once heard that if the Monico race didn't already exist it would never go ahead because the track area is too small and would pretty much fail all safety regs set out by the FIA

Bernie is well and truly there this weekend!

I am in two minds over how I feel on this, on one hand Bahrain is in oppressive regime, but so is China and F1 raced there last weekend without any body saying they shouldn't go.

What I am really don't understand is all the politicians getting on their high horses this week about it. The race has been on the schedule since at least the beginning of the year. That would have been the time to express concerns, not when the teams are already there.

I also think they shouldn't have gone & it's ridiculous for Bernie to pretend that there's nothing important going on in the country.

While I hope there's no injury or death, I'd like to see the protestors make the most of the exposure they'll have & perhaps have a chance to improve their circumstances.

its a good opportunity for the freedom movement to get some GOOD publicity, but creating trouble isnt the way to do it. Lots of people around the world will know about the problems that they might not have known about if F1 wasnt there. I hope more people are not injured or hurt.

Politicians are trying to score points as usual, instead of highlighting the actual problems in the country.

People go on about Bernie this and Bernie that, but they teams (FOTA) voted to go after the FIA said it was safe, though im sure he was applying some pressure somewhere
