Bought a Lowepro backpack but am finding it too much of a hassle. Most times don't need such a big bag and I find it a hassle getting the camera out of the bottom compartment.I need something smaller but obviously padded well enough for taking 50D plus kit lens and perhaps another lens.I wish I'd never bought the backpack to be honest.Doesn't have to be Lowepro.A shoulder or sling bag. Any suggestions?Too late to take the bag back to Jessops.

Think Tank Retrospective 10 or 20 should do the job, depends on your budget though.....
 
budget 50-60.Spent 50 something on th Lowepro.
 
Just had a look at the Think Tank.Like the look, not so much the price, but...anyone got one?Like that it doesn't look like a typical camera bag.
 
Lie look of the Billingham bags too.Expensive tastes.

I do, it wasn't cheap but it's well made and doesn't attract attention.

I use the same bag Andy, it store all my gear which includes 18-70, primes and 70-200 f2.8 lens :) still got room for some lens and my flash gun. Great bag for the price and is very tough and comfortable as well.

But i think the OP is looking for a top loader bag?
 
Thanks for all the replies.I have the Lowepro backpack which will have its purpose occasionally.I suppose it's too late to take it back.I think I understand top loader.Having spent a fair amount on 50D plus lens I'm after something which offers good protection.I'm a relative beginner.
 
Take a look at the lowpro slingshot 100/102aw. Great if not carring aload of kit.
i have a d700 with 24-70 fitted and my 85 1.4 and 50 1.8 in it. Nice and padded and depending on the lens fitted(if its not to long..my set up is) the camera can be removed easily
 
I actually have this with a Domke insert (with 2 dividers/3 spaces)

Insert fits in nicely, filters and SD cards in the front pocket and Flash, batteries etc in the top pocket

I couldn't find a camera bag I was happy with, our local Jessops have the Lowepro Slingshot in several sizes but I don't like it (hubby has one and didn't find it comfortable at all)

I have this as well and would recommend it. I have a Canon 450d, and up to three other len's in it. Also its very comfy, well padded and can hold a lot or little as needs be. It's a slingshot so no need to remove either. Can be got for a good price 2nd hand as a lot of people buy it, get lots of kit and sell it on. Amazon are good on prices :)

They're a handy size and if you need to carry a bit extra once in a while you can easily add a sliplock lens or other pouch on the side.

If you'll be carrying something like a 70-300 regularly you might like the slightly taller 170 AW. Having said that the 160 will take a Nikon 70-300 next to a shorter lens on-camera and has room at the front for 100x150 filters or some other accessories.

It comes with two dividers but I just have a single one in the middle.

How about the lowepro Inverse range? I find them great for a DSLR and lens and they just sit aroudn the waist but can be easily carried too. I managed all day at edinburgh zoo with one holding the 5dii, 28-75, and 70-200 2.8 plus a baby hanging off me half the time.

I have the Inverse 100 and inverse 200 and the 200 was able to squeeze that gear. 100 is a bit tighter but will hold camera, lens and a few other bits and bobs.
 
Oh, and it's so easy to pull the camera in and out of the Inverse bags cause it's just under at your waist.
