Morning all

I need a camera bag to house the following

Canon 5D
24-105L
135L
Flash
Macbook pro 13''

plus some extra room for cables, cards, a jumper or jacket and bits and bobs

I dont want to pay the earth (sub £70 if possible) and i dont mind looking at used gear but id prefer it to not look too much like a camerabag and be relitively ligthweight and waterproof

I have searched through the forums and liked the look of the Lowepro flipside 400 but i dont think it will hold my laptop which is essential. nothing else is jumping out at me so if anyone has any suggestions i would love to hear them as at the moment all my stuff is thrown into my regular rucksack which is probably not the best way to treat a few grand's worth of kit

I ca recommend the Lowepro Fastpack 250, an excellent bag for travel with a netbook or laptop.

Hey Richard,

I've got a Lowepro compudaypack, picked it up on Ebay for £40 inc P&P.
Fits my Canon 30D, 2 lenses and a strap in the bottom compartment.
2/3 flashes, a jacket and any cables, cards etc in the top compartment and also a laptop up to 15" in the laptop compartment.

Check it out on Ebay or google, Lowepro also have some other bags which may suit you but for £40 this one is a steal.

Ben.

I've got a Lowepro Fast pack 250, it can fit a netbook/laptop in it's side compartment or useful for a light reflector which is what I use it for, and has room for a fleece/light rain mac in the top compartment, worth a look below on the link.

I took it on holiday, it's not immediately obvious it's a camera bag and has a slot you can gain access while you still have one arm through one of the the shoulder straps

this looks a good bag but do you think it would be big enough for my kit? while not huge, my two lenses are certainly more chunky than the kit lens and there does not look to be that much room in the compartment. other than this it looks good

How long and wide exactly are your two lenses?

83.5 x 107 mm

8.38 x 9.14cm

body is canon 5d

also have flash and 30mm f/2 which is tiny

According to website, Fastpack 250 dimensions are as below. If I were you though I'd try your gear in one before you buy.

Size (Interior):
11W X 5.9D X 9.3H in./ 28 X 15 X 23.5 cm

Size (Exterior):
12.4W X 9.4D X 18.1H in./ 31.5 X 24 X 46 cm

Notebook Compartment Inner Dimensions:
11W X 1.5D X 17.7H in./28 X 3.75 X 45 cm

If a shoulder bag is OK, Lowepro Classified 250 might be worth looking at. It would fit all you want, although jumper or jacket would have to go in the main compartment. Available in black but IMO the sepia one looks more classy, more of a posh messenger bag rather than a camera bag.

i like the look of the classified but im not sure i could put up with a shoulder bag for 2 years travel which will include hiking and rough terrain. i would worry about it slipping off although it does look like a nice bag. might be one to try out in a shop.

Ozei i think my local shop has one, its just bringing all my gear out without a bag at the moment which i dont like the sound of.

PS. Don't buy without trying it - I did and the gear didn't fit.

If you're on a 2-yr trip the bag has got to be the right one.

They should all fit in with a little space

Hope this helps

ill go to the camera shop today, if they have the bag ill look at it and if it looks the part, i am sure i can get up there with some gear, they may even let me use the shop's display products.; shame its not weatherproof but plastic bags make good friends

+1

I used this bag all the time when travelling, small enough to take on a plane and room for personal stuff as well as camera gear.

Just checked them out, really like the Versapack 200 AW but couldnt work out if a laptop would fit in it. the upper and lowe compartments are seperated byt i cant tell if the upper goes in behind the lower to give further storage, or just stops, cutting the bag in half
