Hi,
I am looking for a bag/holster for a Canon 500d with battery grip and a Canon 100-400mm L with hood attached. I don't want any extra storage space for other lenses flash guns etc, I have a backpack for all that. I am just after a small bag that will hold just the camera and lens.
Anyone have any ideas?

The Lowepro toploader zoom 55 works for me with a 100-400 on the 40D. Not sure if it'll quite fit the body with the battery grip though, there is a bit of height space with my 40D, not sure if it would be quite enough for a battery grip on a slightly smaller body. You won't fit a 100-400 into a bag smaller than this, it's the perfect size (designed with the 70-200 f/2.8 in mind, which is length wise almost identical to the retracted 100-400). It's well made with a pull over weather cover and just a couple of small pocket spaces for cards/batteries kind of things.
Hood needs to be reversed though, in case you meant you wanted space for the hood mounted forwards.

Edit-

Just done a quick google, it will fit a 500D size body with grip, but might be squeezing it a little.

Think tank 50 should do the trick mate.

All the best

As above the Lowepro Toploader 55AW works for me. I have the same, gripped 500d and 100-400, and it does fit. Its a bit tight with the grip, but does go. I like it, well padded, no frills case, Cheap on amazon as well.
