Hi all, I have just bought a canon powershot XS30 IS, I have no idea how to really use it, but have played around with a few of the modes, my main interests photography wise are nature and scenery, any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am a total amatuer.
Thanks

Read the manual, read the tutorials here, read anything else you can photography wise, and then get out with the camera and test out what you have read.

Yeah exactly what tcr says. When I started I would read stuff and then try it with my camera straight after. I have some stuff on my site www.jonathandudley.co.uk. I am no writer and am no professional photographer but it might help you.

Do two things Lyndsey, in addition to the other advice.

Take loads of photos.

Post some of your photos up here.

I don't know if your camera came with some editing software. If not, Google for "Free Photo editors" and download one and see what it can do.

I agree with the posts above the more pictures you take the more you will understand what works (and what doesn't). Sure they will be some really bad shots but so what, your learning!
