Bad things you've done to to your kit

it’s not mine... but there was a story going around a week or two ago about a (day old) Nikon D500 vs German Shepherd...

Worst I did was pull my D750 off the shelf holding it by the body, only my 50mm was caught up on the strap. Crashed onto wooden floor but all seems fine.

Duw, duw....as they say in wales.

Had the bag contating bronica ETR, 75mm and 40mm lenses detach from my motorcycle while travelling down the M40 rapidly some decades ago - dented the prism finder, but otherwise OK.

More recently, in Israel while waiting to get back on the coach we were travelling in my hat blew off, and with my usual grace and delicacy I managed to stop it blowing over the edge while tangling my feet together and measuring my length in the car park. Of course I was holding my D610, so that hit the dirt too, and managed to take various lumps out of my person on the gravel in a failed attempt to save it, but at least the camera was actually fine afterwards. Of course no-one saw this happen, so my attempted jokes about being proud when I got back on the coach just seemed strange instead of making light of a painful matter.

About 6 years ago, I dropped my Olympus MU2 face down onto concrete at Cadburys World. It completely knackered the zooming in and out of the lens. A defining moment; I moved to digital and on to a Canon DSLR . Haven't looked back!

I killed the AF on a Sony 50mm prime by getting sand in the lens at the beach. I sold it as it was on ebay and bought the Minolta AF 50mm f1.7 which was actually a much better lens. So a win on that front.
