All of you...you're all bad. And there's too many of you...go away or just stay at home please...

Six months away and I come back to this? 30 mph limits where they used to be 40; 40 where they used to be 50 or 60 and 50 almost everywhere apart from motorways - except that all the motorways have roadworks and have average speed-cameras restricting traffic to...50...
I wouldn't even mind if it was 50, but the M3 on Friday was crawling along at about 5mph between Aldershot and the A303 Jct...

...and the A303 was closed!!!

Went on a magical mystery Tour halfway to Yeovil before we rejoined it!!!

Ten hours of DVT on an antique Tristar followed by 6 hours of sleep-driving...lovely.

If I didn't know it was better in Germany I'd sell my cars...

Welcome back Rob .

Now, for bad drivers; come and pay us a visit this side of the Gulf! It's laughably horrid here.

It's worse up here, the 30s have become 20s as well

don't get me started on bad drivers, last week a guy on the phone ran into the back of me at 30mph, I regularly get 44 tonne artics 5 feet from my back bumper when driving through the 50mph roadworks at 50mph because they want me to go faster.

I drive for a living and I hate every second of it

welcome back BTW :)

:D :p

. . . If I didn't know it was better in Germany I'd sell my carS...

Sounds like you're not short of a bob or two, and can't imagine you wanting to sell your carS if you really wanted to. ;) :D

But yes, I agree with you about our roads. Don't forget the classic . . . pot holes, including this one at my street.

It's been there for two weeks and still hasn't been sorted out.

That is because the motorways and major trunk roads are as bad and ,rightly, are getting priority.

Frac dons tin hat and gets down low........:)

 Welcome back to an entirely different kind of hell Rob!

Oh, and if you don't mind, I am going to use this thread to vent my spleen about something that has been seriously getting on my chesty bits for weeks now. Outside our business there are single yellow lines, where you cannot park between 9am and 11am monday to friday, any other time is fine and there are [unusually for Camden] clear signs to that effect. However, immediately to the left of our gates there is a zebra crossing with the usual zig zag lines. Now so many traffic laws in this country are absolutely invidious, badly thought out, money making schemes, but I do totally agree with the zigzags at crossings, makes absolute sense from everyones point of view and on safety. So WHY do the local community seem to think that it is less of a problem parking on the zig zags than on the single yellow lines?? :bang: Single yellow lines are usually only restricted at certain times, zig zags are ALWAYS Illegal you morons!! :bat: :bat:

Sorry, it just really pishes me off that people are just so effin stupid. I appreciate that there are a lot of new immigrants in this area due to the housing, which may explain some of it, a lack of understanding of what the laws are or maybe poor understanding of the language [can't read the signs], but that cannot surely explain the 5-10 times a day we see it happen!

Welcome back Rob, enjoy your stay.

Yes, you will find the roads in the UK are currently even more ***ked than they were when you left. Something to do with them not being up to the job of staying intact when it gets a bit chilly.

Ah well, according to the Lovely Julia, the roads that were all lovingly repaired only last year back home in Tchermany are in just as an appalling state after this Winter...it's just inevitable when the weather gets bad...
Over 40% of the roads in Germany are currently under repair again...

I sometimes wonder if I live in a different UK to everyone else! Not noticed a single speed change round here, traffic never seems to be any worse than before and the pot holes from the ice have all been patched.

Guess the lesson is, move to Yorkshire  :p

Agreed, I made the move and discovered a better life - head north you know you want to

Good that you are back and safe though :)
