Yes
Got hit for six by a car yesterday. Hand went through his light and is cut to pieces. Four hours in hospital. Had four x-rays on it. Nothing broken, but loads of glass removed. Have a hand that looks like a street fighters now!
Shoulder hit the car and the deck hard and had another 4 x-rays but nothing broken, but hurts like a mofo. Feels like someone is pushing down on my shoulder all the time.

Three police people, two ambulances and lots of blood, but to be honest I am so worried about my Kuota Kebel (2K Carbon road bike) as not seen it since the accident and very worried about it. Hope it will be ok. It was collected by a mate....

A few days off work now. Will miss my weekly big social ride with my club. The paradox is that I have been putting some serious miles on the clock. 55 on Sat, 25 on Monday, repeat hill training through the week then this guy who in his own words 'got his hands caught in the steering wheel and thought he was going to crash into a parked car' decides to take me out when I simply went around the corner.....I think he was on the phone....get's out saying 'sorry, sorry, sorry' but what can you say when your led on the deck, one foot locked in one out, bike on top of you and you have skin hanging off your fingers with blood hammering out...? 'thats ok mate, lets go for a beer?'..not likely :cuckoo:

You could not make it up. He was taken to the police station and I am awaiting a call from the Police as apparently it will likely be submitted to the RTA section who will then decide if it needs to be taken further.

Feel really deflated but trying to keep upbeat. Say a prayer for my bike folks!!!

Supposed to going to Brecon with Snapper73 on Friday for some pix, but cant even lift my arm at the moment....

Damn it.

However, still alive so thats all good.

shocking, glad you are ok. They can prove if he was on the phone.

Hope the bike gets sorted but in the end it is just a bike, you came through which is more important.

Awful mate. Wishing you a speedy recovery :)

Ouch, and what an awful experience that must be.

Thank God the damage was minimal, no broken bones and no internal organs hurt .. though that doesn't make it any better.

Hope your bike is in better condition that you :p .. as for Friday, may be worth doing the trip even if you're in pain. May turn in to a laughing experience :bonk:

ouch, that sucks!

the words 'no win, no fee' come to mind yet?

That sucks! Hope you heal fast.

As for the bike don't worry about it. The guy has clearly admitted responsibility so submit a claim to his insurance company for the bike at rrp + any accessories. The bike is a light weight carbon road bike which isn't meant to be crashed, so I'd consider it a write off as you might as well claim off his insurance.

As an intermitant commuter and leisure cyclist I've had some very near misses(inches from been t-boned) and one Starskey and Hutch moment over the bonnet, I hope you recover very soon and get some compensation.

You're alive and relatively unhurt, thats all that matters really.

Bikes can be replaced, soft squidgy humans cannot.

Hope you're back to form soon :)

Sorry to hear this Pete and hope you make a speedy recovery.

If he was on the phone, the police will find out. They frequently check call records for mobiles of drivers involved in accidents.

Ouch, speaking as a regular bike rider I felt that one. Get well soon, mate and you'll be back on the ol' saddle before you know about it.

Ouch !!

Hope your bike is ok man !!! And as mentioned above, They can find out if he was on the phone ! MAKE SURE THEY DO !!!

I get so sick and tired of seeing people who are completely oblivious to just whats going on around them as they sit in their car chatting ***** to their mates or whoever !

oh, and glad your ok too !

Good Luck mate, Hope the recovery is fast, and hope the bike is fine too.

I've had a few close shaves over the years with motorists not taking any consideration to cyclists on the road.

Before anyone comments, this is not a rant at motorists, I'm one too, but some (as would appear to be the case here) just do not pay attention. It's bad enough when they hit another car, but when you're on a bike, protection is very much limited.

Good luck mate and here's wishing you a speedy recovery.

Yes, yes. That's all very well.

But how's the camera?

Yeah id be claiming a new bike from the insurance, i deffo wouldnt want to racing down hill on a crash CF frame. Thats why i had 2 bikes the CF one was purely racing, and trained on and still a very light weight tube racing frame and CF everything else forks drops seat etc.

Hope it all sorts its self fast.

I spent three consecutive years being knocked off my bike in August - it was like a bloody jinx - each time it was a new bike as well as the injury I had to contend with...

I even had the experience of being knocked sideways (breaking collar-bone in the process), lying in the road thinking "at least the bike's OK", only to see the car that knocked me down promptly reverse over it...!

I feel the pain, believe me...about the bike I mean - remember - 'bones heal and chicks dig scars'...

Gutted for your Deigo.....but glad it's just your hand and bike that took the force.

Get yourself right and then sue the b****r...........

I was nearly taken out twice last night on the motorbike by cretins who just don't know what to do when a bit of wet stuff falls out of the sky. They need sueing just to bring it home how utterly useless they are and shouldn't really possess a licence. Strongs words yes, but so's killing someone through your own negligence.

Get well and back pedalling soon Diego.

Ouch wishing you a speedy recovery and the guy in the car gets whats coming to him

Cheers all.

Update; one of my riding friends looked over the bike and said aside from a tear in the saddle you would not know it has been crashed - but I need to get on it and check it out. It seems like I took the hit over the bike with evasive action. Hoping it will be OK and hoping to collect it sometime this week.

Want to ride on Saturday as a club time trial on, but my GF has threatened to chop my winky off if I do. What's a guy to do?

How you're coming along? Healing well, I hope.

Make sure you keep the winky!

Cheers all.

Id still be claiming for new bike no matter how good the frame looks. Carbon fibre have seen a perfectly fine looking frame fail an hour after a very light crash, no scuffs etc, i was lucky to miss the rider as it failed about a foot in front of me, infact i had to jump over the his rear wheel. My mountain bike skills helpped there. What bike is it out of interest?

As for the race hmm simple dump her sure you can find another :cuckoo:

Where are the pictures

Get well soon mate, and make sure you take his ass to the cleaners and bleed every penny out of him you can!

Glad you weren't more seriously injured Pete. I'm with the others with regards to your bike seeing as it's CF. It's not the damage you can see that you should be worried about but the damage you can't.

It's not about claiming for a bike because its a good opportunity to either but because its highly likely you'll need to buy a new bike. If you're feeling generous you could tell the insurers that you'll have the bike NDT'd (Non-Destructive Testing - used by the aerospace industries and the like) at their cost and if the bike is fine you won't claim for a new one. But it's a faff you don't need so just claim for a replacement.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.
