Bad day at the office

oops :)

Eeek. Hope the crane operators were OK.

Another fine mess you have got me into !

Ouch, that was painful seeing that unfold slowly. Lucky it went that way.

That's horrible. I have dropped very heavy things from a factory crane and its pretty scary

Whoops, I hope injuries were not life threatening

Why would you use mobile cranes to move something so big and heavy whilst on a floating platform?

I'd love to know how a single beam overhead crane was ever passed to move anything so big. Looks like a couple of people at least may have lost their lives in this video.

We had loads of overhead cranes in the tool room and press shop where I worked, some were driver operated from the cab, whilst most were pendant or radio controlled from the ground, but cranes rated at 20 or 30 Tonnes SWL. I only got to drive them from the floor by pendant or radio control, but some were a bit scary to drive especially when you have to move a 20 Tonne press tool over the top of other press tools stacked 2 high.

Because... engineers.

I have a friend who did an engineering degree. He was always sharing with us his wacky solutions to problems with an enthusiastic "you can!", as if a positive assertion were all that is needed to defy physics.

We were all very relieved that he didn't pursue a career in civil engineering as I'd never have been able to go over a bridge again, just in case.

Goes to show that just because one has a degree in engineering, it doesn't always mean they know what they're doing.

:)

That goes for any qualification in anything though, to be fair. There's always numpties and people having a bad day.

Surely that can't have been the first time they've ever done that in Holland , I wonder what they did wrong
