Ladies and Gentlemen, now I have my D7000 with grip fitted and kit lens and a 70-300 my current bag is too small.

I want a backpack that will carry this kit plus some capacity for packed lunch etc, etc.

I have a limited budget of £75 tops and was hoping that all your experience could give some recommendations.

Thanks in advance,

John

I'm surprised that no one has an opinion or recommendation..............

Would this be too small?

Lowepro Slingshot 302 AW - Camera Bag NEW Without Tags

I use the 302, which I initially bought for my D7000 & 80-400mm. Still plenty of room for another couple of lenses & bits too & the separate top zipped compartment is big enough for half a dozen sarnies & a couple of pies!

Paul, that's a cracking price you've linked to! (I paid £56 for mine 3 years ago & that was cheap at the time)

I like the sling bags and that is a great price. I have the next size down from that and it would probably be big enough but only just.
The issue I have is that they aren't as comfortable to carry on a long walk as a traditional backpack. I now have a Tamrac which is spot on, I'll have to check which one when I get home. They are expensive but they can be had second hand. There are always loads of barely used bags in the classifieds on here.

Mines the 200 one if that's big enough for you. Make an offer. It's in vvv good condition. I can't sell it in classifieds coz I'm a new kid on the block.

The Lowepro ones also have a concealed waterproof cover, which is nice.

Thanks all.

Will it take the D7000 with the grip fitted do you think? If the answer to that is yes then it is very probably just right.

There are loads on E-Bay as had been stated. I just needed to know peoples personal experiences of size.

Thanks all.

Hi John.
I'm guessing yes. Internal depth (from back to front) is not far off 7" (approx 17cm) but measure your gear just to make sure.

I agree with Stephen that standard 2 strap `backpacks` are probably a little more comfortable over longer distances if fully loaded, if not always as easy/quick to get your gear out of as the `sling` versions.

The lowepro flipside 400 would meet your needs but it's a little over your budget new. They sometimes come up on here 2nd hand within your budget. It's probably a little too big for your current needs but you would have room for lunch, light coat etc and plenty of room for your camera. It fits a gripped d7000 in nicely. I'm not if the flipside 300 fits a gripped d7000 in, I can't remember if I used a grip when I had a flipside 300. I think I moved up to the 400 for the grip and also for more room.

I also have the 302, personally though I find it a tad uncomfortable if you carry or almost fill the bag, it becomes very heavy, and if your like me and you have to walk a bit to get the picture you want, by the end of the journey (even 30 min) my back and shoulder is quite painful.

I carry the 7100 with grip and 70-200 lens and it slips in no problem with space to spare.

Thanks all,

I have a dodgy back so a double strap is probably better.

I will keep a watch on here.

Yeah i never thought to say but my slingshot fully loaded is NOT comfy after a short peroid but its great in winter / mud / rain to take basic kit you need and to get it out of bag without laying on the floor so thats what my slingshot is used for. Any lengthy peroid i use the mini trekker and when all straps are done up it very comfy with very even weight distribution.

The nova 180aw is my grab bag for events or taking in the car on the off chance of a shot.

i got a back pack bag from the 7 dayshop for £17 i think it was it holds my camera ,a 50-500 sigma,a 10-20,the kit lens,a 50 mm,and a flash plus there is a zip pouch at the front

I have the lowepro 302 and I have used it with a canon 60D with battery grip, and a sigma 120-400 lens and with a 70-200 2.8 lens. My only issues with it are that the top compartment is a tad small, and after a while of carrying it, it does tend to make your back ache from only one strap. I know its a little out of your budget, but take a look at the photosport range http://www.lowepro.com/photosport. I've recently bought the photosport 30l and I have to say its fantastic. Did a 15 mile walk across rough terrain with it last weekend and I couldn't fault it.
