I'm wanting to buy a back pack for my camera and additional lenses..
Been looking at the Lowepro ones... I've got some vouchers i wanted to use at Jessops.. Any ideas guys...

Anyone bought a really good one they think is worth the £50 they cost..

lol

what one did you have in mind, lowepro's are a brilliant long lasting brand and i know some people who have spend a small sum of £75 and its still lasted them over 19 years.

also what gear do you need to be carried as i could give a clear option to what your after.

thanks for the reply..

I have a canon 450D and a 18-50 mm sigma lens, I am currently looking at other lens.. and want to build up my collection this yr..

I guess I'm hoping for a bag that will allow me to upgrade my euip with out having to upgrade the bag.. if you know what i mean..

And would want to have space for jumper etc..

I dont mind spending £60 ..

well i would go for a mini trekker, as its nice and small and will fit what you want, however i think it might look a bit weird carrying a backpack with little equipment. you could go for a fastpack which sounds perfect for what you want, the fastpack 100 will hold a dslr and lens along with another lens plus gear in the top however you might find it a bit small so i would recommend a fastpack 200.

also if i was you i would get a caanon 50mm f1.8 lens, pro lens for not pro money costing £99 at jessops or i think kerso does 'em on here for £80.

I recently bought a mini trekker AW from Jessops for £59..

Takes a fair amount of kit, straps for tripod and comes with a waterproof cover...

Lowepro Mini Trekker AW

Don't intend to hijack, but didn't see the point of making another thread for exactly the same request! Looking for a bag to hold my D300 and laptop plus lenses, the largest of which is the Siggy 100-300 which is about 25cm long. Suggestions?

I think its better to have bigger... then you can fit more stuff in.. thanks for all the tips..

and so 50mm f1.8 lens.. how come..? oh is that the nifty fifty.. was thinking of getting this lens.. heard its good..

what in particular is this lens good for shooting...

I got me a Lowerpro Slingshot AW100 cracking tool and great concept. You dont have to take it off your back. Simply slide it around to your front and everthing is in reach ready to go. Works a treat for me. Rain cover pulls out of bottom and goes over the bag 10/10 for my 2 penny worth.

I bought an orion trekker lowepro from the classifieds on here.
Fantastic backpack it houses all your camera gear at the bottom and has a little section up top for a jumper, some lunch etc
great purchase.

My requirements have now changed and when I hit 100 posts I will be selling it again via the classifieds, but thats not a reflection on the bag as it was brilliant for family days out.
The other bonus is that it didn't look like a camera bag as such so was a lot less of a target to potential scallywags.
Bought for £25 I'd like to think I will get that back as it is mint/as new/used only once.
Do it, you won't regret it imo

I need a new bag too. I bought a tamrac aero 70 (i think) when I bought my camera. It's ok but I'm going to need a bit more room soon and also something that I can strap my tripod and a light-stand to as well as keeping everything else -- flash x 2, lenses, filters, cables, charger, blower & cleaning stuff, laptop (on longer journeys), reflectors etc... -- inside, aaaand have a little room left over for a packed lunch and a couple other non photo related things ;)

Been looking at the lowepro pro runner 450 and also some of the kata ones.

Any recommendations for a "get it all in" type backpack?

Personally used to own a Tamrac bag and I was silly to sell it. Lovely kit. Coincidentally just posted a very similar message in a different thread.

Tamrac Expedition 8X. job done:)

I use the Lowepro Flipside 300 and cannot recommend it enough, under £50 on Amazon as well at the moment!

I use it to hold -

Canon 450D
50mm 1.8
18-55mm kit lens
55-250mm lens
various cleaning bits and prices, memory cards etc etc
Tripod on the back

Could easily fit a flash in there as well and probably even a 4th lens.

Absolutely superb and cannot recommend it enough.

I have a a Flipside 300 and have used it for a year to carry a tripod, filters, Tokina 11-16, Canon 70-200 for long walks up and down hills and has served me well. It even does a decent job of resisting water, though I do own a rain cover for it that I use just incase. But I did get caught ina summer downpour and was wet on outside, but bone dry on inside.

I am now moving to a new setup with Canon 5d MK II, Canon 17-40 and Canon 24-70. I have bought a Vertex 200 and it's a massive bag. Sliplock features are a bit rubbish on it, but the storage is immense. Even fit some clothing or stuff into the laptop pocket.
two.

My only complaint about the Flipside 300 is even though you can day walk with it, your shoulders may ache depending on the weight load. Make sure you use the distribution straps to evenly spreadout weight if you get a Flipside 300. For the price they are very good bags even if it's to carry a bit of gear. Small, compact and will do a decent job.

The vertex system looks pretty decent in terms of spreading out weight, but bags are funny. Depends on the person and gear. I got mine online, but if you can go to a store and have a look or even try one on then that will be beneficial to you.

Anyone wanting a huge rucksack could do a lot worse than finding a Tamrac Cyberpack 8. I got mine off ebay for about £35 used but in good nick. So far I've got in it a 1D Mk2, 1Ds, 70-200 F4 IS, 24-105 F4 IS, 1.4 EXtender II, 50mm 1.8, two flashes, filters, cables, cards, rocketblower etc and there is still enough room for another 2 or 3 lenses and also a big laptop will fit in the back and personal gear will fit in the front.

Hi, not wanting to hijack either but can anybody recommend a walkabout bag for a Canon 600f4 with 1D3 attached apart from the Lowepro 600 ?

Had a really good Kinesis once, are these available in the UK ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have just bought the lowepro flipside 300 from a member on here in mint condition!!!

put a post in the wanted section !!!!

For a budget of £50, the flipside 300 is excellent. Was going to sell mine, but going to keep it when my Vertex 200 is too big to go.

I've got a Tamrac Adventure 9 and totally love it. Enough for a body and 4 lenses, as well as a padded laptop compartment and enough space to fit your other bits and bobs in at the top (lunch, booze). Memory card / Battery storage and an extra pocket for filters/lens cloths etc. is useful too. Highly recommended.

I was after a backpack now I am cycling alot of places and was in Jacobs and Jessops midweek and the Lowepro Pro Runner 200 AW caught my attention, you can fit so much kit in it and yet its quite compact for a backpack but the price put me off until I seen it on Amazon for £38, that is less than half price compared to Jessops..

anyways, if you put 'pro runner 200' in Flickr you will see user images of what can be fit into one, amazing for the size and well worth a look it at Amazon prices.
