Backing up text messages on iPhones

I have the iphone 3 and my daughter had the latest version and we both wonder if there is any way of backing up/saving the text messages?

I have the iphone 3 and my daughter had the latest version and we both wonder if there is any way of backing up/saving the text messages?

If you sync to iTunes then that automatically backs up all the data on your phone.

I had my iPhone stolen and when my replacement came I just plugged it in to my computer and restored from the most recent back up and hey-presto, it was exactly like before with nothing lost

On the latest versions you can use iCloud to do it as well.
