Backing up lightroom catalog, to move to a new computer, HELP !

My laptop is on its last legs, it has ceased to be, it is an ex-laptop, every day brings it closer to the scrapheap in the sky.

I have a new laptop coming, but how can I transfer my lightroon catalog to the new one ?

I can easily transfer all my files, photos, raw files etc with the help of a handy dandy 32gb micro sd, but not sure what to do about lightroom?
 
Just copy the catalogue folder over, and the image files making sure they're in the same location (not 100% essential as you can locate missing folders).

Then just open the catalogue on the new machine.
 
Not necessary, or even desirable, to have the catalog and images files in the same location.

Also a good time, if you've not already done so, to mention that you should back up your catalog (as well as your image files) on a regular basis.

maybe badly worded on my part.

the RAW files will need to be in the same path as the old computer unless you want to manually locate them all. thats what i was getting at.
 
Where do I find the catalog file ?
In c/ program files : Adobe / Lightroom ?

If W8, then Pictures\ Lightroom\Lightroom (version) Catalogue.lrcat unless you've chosen differently.
