BACKGROUND SUPPORT KIT...OR JUST POLE...?

Ok...seen both of these on ebay:

Just the pole... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Background-su...quipment_RL&hash=item1c16f3477c#ht_2152wt_905

The Kit... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Background-se...quipment_RL&hash=item20b16ae48a#ht_1955wt_905

Anyone bought from Fotobyte...? The gaer looks reasonable well made for the price...especially compared with some others...Just being a bit cheap here as have got my eye on other things...thinking I could use some stands I already have...and as the pole is telescopic...so it could double as a light boom for speedlight setup...?

All thoughts welcome...!!!

Depends whether you already have two stands that are capable of holding up a backdrop.

I have a couple of Interfit 750s that came with my lighting kit...a Interfit 751...and a few Konigs...just wondered if anyone has these and what the quality/size is...look ok in the picture...but most things do...then there is the +£35 to spend on some thing else...

The pole looks similar/same as some of the better kits...

I bought this kit just before Christmas. Two reasons for choosing it were the price and the fact it had a telescopic pole rather than a two or three section affair - I thought it would be more flexible (in configuration terms, not bendiness).

Delivery was very quick and by Parcelforce. Well packed. The stands have plastic collars rather than metal - I don't know if this makes them any more fragile when tightening but I made sure I didn't overtighten. Otherwise they are spring damped and seemed sturdy.

The telescopic bar seemed fine and supported a 3m x 6m muslin - I'm not sure if it would support a 3m vinyl - I don't know how heavy they are and how the load is distributed but then maybe that's the same for many of the sub-£100 supports.

If you want me to take some clearer pictures of various bits of it let me know.

Cheers...

Think Ill buy the pole and put the rest into some other stuff as it sounds like for my use...the telescopic bit is the main part...

Can I ask...the telescopic bars ends...are they plastic or metal...wondered if I could fit a collar (brass monkey) into them and tightes...then I could also use it as a speedlight boom...

If you can answer this...that would be great...

Thanks

Telescopic poles are more versatile and smaller than my 4 section pole. You can pull the fabric taught to the stands at whatever background width.

Regret getting it now, so I would recommended the telescopic variety.

Here's a snap of the pole end. At first I thought it was plastic but it is a metal casting. Non-magnetic (as is the rest of the pole) - maybe aluminium? The end shown rotates and is held on with a couple of grub screws, the other end is riveted. You can just about see that there is a hole in the end as well which might be useful if you were going to use it as a boom.

The locking key is plastic (I seem to remember the original advert showed a different key):
