I'm looking to pick a backdrop to take a few studio style shots. I seen a few cheaper ones on eBay with cotton muslin backdrops are they worth it? Will it do a decent job for a beginner?

Thanks

Ive been considering the same, and to be honest I was just going to find a fabric store and just buy some large pieces of cloth to hang from a wall. Ill probably get a black one, white one and anything else I feel may be useful whilst im there

Cheap and cheerful

Lengths of fabric from a fabric shop, cheap bin-ends of wallpaper pasted on a sheet of hardboard, charity shop curtains, water damaged plywood..

i have bought several 8ft x 8ft cotton throws, plain green, purple, black, blue for under £10 on the fleebay, also some charity shops too may be worth trying, ive picked up some great fabric for not a lot of dosh

I use an ironed white bed sheet with drawing pins around my bedroom door & the room next to its frame, very professional eh?.

Ah that has eased my mind a bit lol. I'm guessing if I got the cotton muslin's I'd be able to iron the creases out? Shouldn't be a problem should it?

Oh wow never would of thought of pasting wall paper on to hardboard for a back ground. Thanks for sharing your ideas!

I'm looking forward to the kids leaving home so I can turn one of the bedrooms into a studio. As well as getting rid of a couple of PITA lol. Will have to do with drawing pins in the wall for now if I need to.

LOL... just in process of 'losing' my youngest.... her bedroom is set to be dual purpose rep room and 'studio'..... can't wait!

Dunelm mill sell end of roll stuff really cheap sometimes... often decent bits with good texture / sheen etc. for smaller background shots.
