Backdrop options

It also depends on what size objects you want to take photos of, if they are small products (e.g. phone, bags etc.) a3/a2 size paper works very well. :)

TBH I usually use paper or card as a backdrop for small objects - it's just more convenient. I'm meaning for portraits though. Children are obviously smaller (babies scarily so!) but I'm looking at about 2-3m of material for full length and maybe half that for the rest - admittedly though I don't like doing full length portraits, they're just not me...

Never heard of the shower curtain one! Bed sheet was what I thought at first TBH - til I went to Morrisons and they only had fitted ones and then I kind of gave up in frustration. :lol: I think I'll probably get a couple though, when I find some none-fitted ones anyway.

A chromakey background, would any green material with a reasonably smooth, consistant texture be ok?

Probably. We were on holiday in the US and most places insisted on taking your picture against a blue or green background so they could put you against a local landmark.

Worked well until my wife wore her chromakey coloured coat, at which point she was just left with a head in the picture:D

Asda is the place for sheets. White and black from single to kingsize. :)

showercurtains creases are hard to remove.

Here's a pic of my partner from last nite

Do you mean
1/ Here's a pic, of my partner from last night

or

2/ Here's a pic of my partner, from last night????

You could be in trouble if you choose the wrong one!

:lol::lol:

Good shot BTW

Double/king duvet covers from charity shops. Not always easy to find though. A sod to iron flat, too. I clamp mine to a background stand x-bar and run a metal chain inside the bottom as they dry. Helps a little, as does a vertical steaming iron.
I suppose it comes down to effort:cost :)
