Backdrop clamps

Hi all.


I have been given a heavy vinyl backdrop which I am currently setting up, however when the background system raises over 5' then vinyl unrolls under its own weight.

I'm about to get some clamps but how exactly do you use them best?

Dan try the pound shop get a pair off them plastic spring clamps they hav a quite strong grip
I use them for a lot of things

Well depends how your setup is, but lets say you have 2 stands with a pole resting on top, the pole would go through your backdrop and is then placed on the stands, then you slowly unroll your background to were you want it, then you take a clamp and put it at one end of the roll, so it's clamped between the roll and the bar going through it, it should be clamping the remains of the roll so it doesn't move,then repeat the same at the other end, i hope that makes sense, if not shout again, and i will try and do a diagram

Just watch out for for the plastic snapping and the spring launching the remaining parts at the back of your head.:thumbsdown:

I use manfrotto 035 (I think) clamps.

Not the cheapest but I had them laying around!

I just clamp the vinyl to stop it rolling off the tube. They are pretty weighty too so makes sure its nice and straight.

Neil have used them for years to hold timber never had any snap yet but I suppose that is a possibility

use these myself... never had any issues
