Ok Folks

I dunno what the best way to do this. If I had a HD with all my photos and LR library on and i use it on my iMac and my MBP as my main photo HD. I will also get another as a back up of that HD. But when i add more images and alteration to the Main external HD what the best way to back it up on the back up drive with out having to duplicate or backing up everything again as it takes a long time.. So looking so that HD just add what need adding or what been altered..

Is this possible?

Have a look at carbon copy closer. It's excellent backup software. There are plenty of options to decide the type of backup completed. You are setup timed interval backups (even turns the computer on and off to complete the backup) or when you connect an external hard drive. I have also set it up to email me whether it's successfully completed the backup or not.

Will have a look at that again think i tried it a few years back not too sure. Is it about £30?

Might give the Time Machine a try first..

You can try it free for 30 days to see if it works for you. After 30 days you will most likely need to buy it, it was roughly £30 when I purchased it. For the ease of backing up and knowing you are always backed up if the worse happened for me it was worth the price. I currently do both time machine and CCC backups to two external drives.

I guess this CCC does a better job so it would do a better job of Cloning my LR External HD onto another External HD

Chronosync is very good and highly rated. I have been using it for a while now on my old iMac and also my MBP. Works very well, never let me down either. Have a look.
