Well after a self imposed sabbatical (I sold my 06 plate BMW GSA last may)
I have discovered that I cant live without a bike!

Off to the ally pally bike show on sunday (taking my 3 yr old too) to look at the latest metal.

Anyone else going to be there?

Only problem of course is that I will be hankering for the 2010 GSA, at nearly 4k more than I paid in 06!

cant complain- BMW GS's, the crack cocaine of the motorbike world!!
 
Good on you, biking is an excellent weekend pastime provided you can keep a safe distance from the airheads not looking where they are going.

I need to get my bike out for a proper blast again, not used it a lot since last year.
 
If there is one thing I know ( as an ex instructor) its how bad some bikers can be.
Car drivers are pretty un-observant when they are in their little boxes first thing, still a bit sleepy, HGV drivers seem to keep a good eye out.

sports bikes ridden by lunatics are my worst enemies! I like to ride 'progressively' but some people do kick the backside out of it, getting us all a bad name

Lol but bikers DO look where they are going, they just go where they are going a lot faster and sometimes bearing very little consideration for the needs of the other road users.

What I'm getting at is the people doing their make-up while driving, people chatting away pinning a mobile to their ear while driving in areas that require their full attention, fumbling around not watching the traffic in front and those who just clearly don't look around before committing to a manoeuvre.

Either way, watch out for those who don't for you :thumbs:

But that's my point - you can't make a statement that "Bikers DO look where they're going" - you mean SOME do. SOME don't.

In my experience, they have NO respect for the conditions - just look how they behave on a traffic jammed road - riding at ridiculous speeds in between the traffic, and then waving fists or shaking heads at people who have the audacity to change lanes, even though they have indicated correctly, and mr biker was not in view when they started to change lanes.

Sorry, I'm sure there's a lot of decent bikers out there but there's far too many who think a crash helmet makes them invincible.

And before you say it, there's a bunch of idiot road users in all other types of vehicles as well.... :bonk:

I agree, but it would unfair to tar everyone with the same brush. As a biker myself I have seen a lot of them take unnecessary risks and even end up in accidents after doing silly things. What gets me about some other road users is those times that they blissfully swan across lanes without a care in the world for those around them.

Unfortunately, I do treat all bikers the same way - get out of their way and let them get as far away from me before they do something I don't want to be involved in. :lol:
 
The best advice I recieved from my motorcycle instructor was to "treat everybody else on the road as if they were complete idiots intent on killing you"

This was many moons ago but has served me well over time.
 
Cant wait for all the road salt to go so I can get out on mine (Z750):)

Sorry for the bump of an old topic. We went to the Ally Pally, I was very dissapointed. Not much there, we only stayed for an hour.

I didn't even get any keepers from the day either, the only decent shots were taken at the KTM stand and even then they weren't the best.

I have an RSV Mille, she came out for the first time in a while on the weekend in the nice weather. I've missed her :(
