I started off as a Mountain Bike rider who liked to take a lot of photos of the glorious landscapes I found myself in. After a while I realised that if I took enough photos one or two would turn out OK. This is how I discovered my interest (passion) for photography.

In November I took the leap and purchased my first DSLR. It was a big leap from my trusty P&S that I took everywhere and a big learning curve. I guess I just thought I would buy the DSLR and take even better shots than the P&S straight away.

Well my photography took a step back, before going forward again for number of reasons; I was learning how to use the settings and take a decent shot, I was trying other things rather than just snapping landscapes while out on my bike, I was learning how to use Photoshop (well PSE at least).

I'm in training for a couple of MTB events in the next couple of weeks. So was out early this morning trying to get the miles in. I took my P&S with me today and got these...

Back to my roots I guess.

Apologies if this is in wrong forum. Not really looking for C&C on the shots (although it is welcome - is the 2nd a bit over-saturated? LOL). I really wanted to just talk a bit about the low I've been through but now appear to be coming out the other side (I guess the spring weather and light helps a bit also!)...

Ha ha, the 1st ones great, glad to see your not listening to any of that thirds rubbish.
Thirds, pfft, it either looks great or it doesn't, all depends whos looking at it and whether they like thirds or not:shrug:.
Yeah the 2nd one is a bit zingy.

Photography can be tough, just got to hang in there till you turn it round.
Its better to concentrate on one aspect/genre and learn to be great at that, than to spread yourself thinly over it all and not be great at anything.

that first shot is good, the colours are great and the person makes it and adds interest and a focal point.

I like the second although it is a wee bit over saturated.
Thanks

Mark (no scot btw)
