Hi I have an old Dawes super Galaxy and it needs new tyres, done a bit of googling and have come up with Continental Gator Hardshell Rigid Tyre as a suitable tyre.

Any thoughts from the cycling fraternity on here about that choice.

Got a pair - of course! :D - of Continental Super Sport Plus some 4 months ago.
Reinforced with carbon fibre inlay, and haven't had a single puncture yet!

Found them a bit expensive, but so far I think they're worth it.

what size?

there are some recent tyre suggestions in the pedal power thread if you need 700's

They are 27 x 1 1/4 , will look in that thread.

Cheers will take a look at those......... edit....had a look and they are cheaper again than the hardshell :)

Continental touring plus tyres have been fantastic - certainly recommend them.

Very good puncture resistance to them

I had Schwalbe Marathons on my Thorn Sherpa, great tyres, but devil of a job getting them on the rims

It is definitely going to be Continental, I had Touring 2000 on the wife's bike and I think the Touring Plus has replaced them.

If you can find some Bontrager Race Lite Hardcase Tyres, you find them long lasting, I have had a pair on my Super Galaxy for the past 5 year, and only inner tube change was due to me snapping the valve, not a puncture.
