just got back from hospital this evening after going in friday night.. sudden pains with my stoma and problems ( thankfully nothing to serious ( a blockage ) and a couple of days on drip and avoiding solids plus some nasty laxative type liquid to flush through and sorted.
lesson learned to avoid seeded bread!

Glad you're OK Dean. Perhaps you're signature should be changed to "Through the eye of a needle"?

Only joking ;)

have to go back in couple of weeks for the colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy all in same day and also to see dietician and work out a plan as well as find out my fate regarding resection surgery or if im going to be stuck with a permanent bag then gettng the stoma repositioned an inch or so higher.. eitehr way i'll be under the knife again at some point. all makes it a right royal pain in trying to get photography business off the ground again even though i have a shoot booked in 2 weeks time ( just trying to find suitable location ) the model wants shots at a folly/grotto and likes painshill park but im hoping to find somwehere a little closer that may be more suited ( plus painshill requires permissions for professional shoots which i dont have the time or money to get right now )

I feel a bit of a prat now... just coming back with a one liner about your signature :sorry:
I'm afraid life's like that sometimes, usually 10 times more complex that you ever expect. It will work out in the end of course and hopefully you'll be absolutely fine.

I'm confident I'm not the only one wishing you a full recovery.

cheers
Bill

Glad this weekend wasn't more serious Dean.

Hi from Bruges

Thoughts with you and your family.

We have spoken on health and no matter what, you have to concentrate on that so everything else stays essier to manage.

Good luck

Steve

Hope you get better soon Dean.

I had a Sigmoidoscopy & Endoscopy on Friday just gone, not a nice procedure. "have to go back in couple of weeks for the colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy all in same day" Isn't the colonoscopy just a further test (deeper) to the sigmoidoscopy? dose the colon overide the sigmoid??? I have got to go back and have the colonoscopy as I wasn't prepared (by hospital laxatives sent) and had a poor enemea (spl).

I have got to get my digestive system right before they will carry out both knee replacements and right hip replacement. I have been waiting 12months for the above procedure and they have prepared me wrongly, god knows how long I will have to wait now.

I had to give up work a few years ago (due to other illness apart from above mentioned) and although difficult dropping to one wage, it makes you realise how important your health is and not to worry about other things, apart family.

my colonoscopy is going through my stoma to check my remaining large bowel for any issues ( any signs of diverticular disease, pockets , infection etc), and the sigmoidoscopy is to check the scar tissue and how its healed where they removed the section of descending colon to see if its all ok for possible reversal.
honestly cant say what im more worried about, the procdure or the 2 litres of vile moviprep i have to drink beforehand!

I didn't have a sedative on Friday, but I could have. My hospital stated "they don't usually give Sedative for Sigmoidoscopy but will for Endoscopy" (Also, it took ages for the nurse to find a vein for prep of the sedative, I told her it was best to take from hand as I now have deep veins, but she was persistent on trying to get vein from arm, she ended up on hand as I told her twenty minutes earlier). So I decided not to, as they were allready to start the sigmoidoscopy. I was then able to get home quicker.

Can you ask for the sedative to help relax you before the procedure?

My sister in-law has been through similar to you for Ulcerative Collittis,(spl) but has now had the reversal. It's easy to say, but try not to worry yourself about the procedure too much, youre in good hands.
