Yes
I was looking for a back drop stand and noticed that it's basically two lighting stands with a metal bar going from one side to the other.

Does anyone know where I could get that bar?

I've ordered 4 of these stands but I'm considering ordering another 2 for the back drop support. Thing is, they only extend to 2m -- is that enough for a back drop?

No, and they're not strong enough, either.

Have you thought about Garment Rails? clicky Ok so they're not as wide, but they are cheap, strong and on casters. When I was in the rag trade we used to hang off them :nono: You can also get extension poles to get the top rail higher.

I've just ordered one of these:

It looks a bit sturdier than most and I like the fact that it has a telescopic cross pole so you are able to use variable width backdrops.

I use them stands, they look very cheap and fall over easy. I would only recommend these if your very short of money.

heres a stand (out of stock atm though)

and they also do backdrops

not got one from here as I made my own from plumbing tubing and white vinyl, but I've just ordered the lights from here

hope thats of some help

cheers
Phil

Is there anything you are not looking for :D

They are not lighting stands, they extend higher and have butterfly nuts on the top to hold the crossbar on, I can use my crossbar in either two or three/three or four (I cannot remember how many pieces it has) for various widths. I also find the Colourama paper much better than fabric backdrops - less processing afterwards.

Two light stands plus this?

Doh, at that price I may as well just buy a normal support. Cheers though.

You get what you pay for, mate - buy budget everything and you can be assured that it will all start falling to pieces at the same time, and also at the most inconvenient possible moment...

As I discovered last night when using them outdoors to support a home made chimera panel. Bet you didn't know they could fly

I use a Savage port-a-stand and it has served me well for over 5 years. It gets used on site just about every other week, it has been fallen onto and pulled over by drunken ****s more times than I care to remember and still carries on.

I have two of nearly everything for the event work, and because of this I bough two of the savage Stands at the same time. The second one has only been out of the bag once to make sure that everything was present and correct.

I really can't reccomend them highly enough.

Got a link mate?
