I've been asked to take some pics of some baby crocs for a conservation center so they can put their pictures on the name boards and so forth. Does anyone know if I'll be ok to use a bounce flash (probably with a paper diffuser) with these crocs or will they go nuts and bite my face off?

When I've done wild crocs always had the flash of. On one occation the built in went off and the young croc went under.

Something similar. Doing baby turtles I used a flash but got to much bounce back (glare?) from the water. The best shots were with the flash of.

I suspect a diffuser would solve the problem but not sure on how captive crocs will react. Most likely bite your face off:D only kidding should be ok. After the first shot you will know if you should turn the flash of and think about lights of some description.

One from Costa Rica.

Thanks - and lovely shot. These little crocs have their own enclosures with a mixture of different surfaces in them, so I will probably be able to try a variety of different types of shot. I guess I'll just see what it's like when I'm there, I'm going to do the gig for free as it's a good cause and fairly local anyway plus it will be a good experience to try.

I found this pic whilst looking at croc images:
