Is it possible to do an icc profile for a B+W image??
I have an Epson 1400 which is known to have a colour cast for B+W due to only having one black ink cartridge so was wondering it a profile would be possible.
If it is, would anyone be willing to do it for me please.

Have you tried conventional profiling and soft proofed the image?

It's really simple

The idea of soft proofing is to see how the image will print with the printer profile enabled.

You can then adjust the image to get aso near as possible to the original as possible.

I would suggest that for your B&W print using Lightroom will be the simplest as you should see the effect of the profile and see if this corrects the cast you are getting.

If you are using Ilford papers I have found that the profiles the provide from their web site for Gallerie papers a pretty good.

You can't specifically get a profile for B&W - you can linearise the output from the printer but not actually profile it. Some profiles include gray patches which can help but you are always going to be handicaped because the epson 1400 has only 1 black cart.

I do use Ilford Gallerie Gloss and their profile among other papers (Innova and Canson)

that great, Thanks, probably Innova Smooth Cotton High White, Windows 7 and CS6 and Lightroom 4.
Question please - would you say B+W images are best on gloss paper or the Innova cotton one??

I prefer them on fibre based paper like the semi-glazed or ilford gold fibre silk. better dmax than cotton papers.

since CS6 & LR4 have no option to print without colour management, you'll need to use Adobe ® Color Printer Utility to print the targets.
