Can anyone recommend somewhere to get my B+W film developed? Not concerned about the cost, just need somewhere reliable :)

I imagine I would have to post the film somewhere? Thats what happens when you live in the sticks :D

It should say on the side of the roll. Look for C41.
 
C41 is a colour process but you can buy B&W C41 compatible films. They have been met with mixed reviews, especially if getting wet prints made.

Boots do not do in-store B&W processing anymore, I think they use one or other of the labs mentioned already.
 
I really like Ilford XP2 ISO400 C41 film in my Lomo. I know Boots won't process traditional B&W film but last time I was there they did C41.

Personally I've not used it, but some people say the prints suffer from colour castes because of the colour chemicals used in the C41 print process.

Do you scan the negatives & print yourself or get the lab to create prints?
 
Ive called them before going in, it doesnt say C41 on the roll so they cant do it :(

Ne'er mind, Ill find somewhere else :)
 
I took my first batch to Klick :) To be fair I only wanted to see whether the camera worked or not (an old Zenith that belonged to my late father in law) and was quite shocked to see the cost for B&W processing! However, I was really pleased with the results. The only slight problem was a couple of photos had odd white or black lines on them - either the shutter, my ham-fistedness at putting in the film or the Klick lab making a mess when opening the film canister.

(Now don't boo) Originally I popped into Jessops and asked them why the price difference between B&W and colour processing. The young assistant went away to ask and came back with the answer 'because we have to send it away'. Hmmm.

So, Klick got my business as, though they didn't know either, they were a quid cheaper :D

Anybody used the Ilford mailers available from 7dayshop?

Boots will scan to cd for you. You can get a slight cast but thats fixable in PS. Samples.
 
I think the high cost in high street stores is becasue there are only 2 or 3 pro labs in teh UK running B&W developing now, and the shops probably send the films to them and add a little margin to cover shipping & handling.

Not as bad as getting Kodachrome developed though, there's only one lab in the world running the K14 process now and the future of that is looking uncertain.

Cut out the middle man and use the pro labs directly if you want cheaper and quicker service.
