Hi all my sister in law as just got herself a b&b/restaurant in cronwall and we are going to visit next weekend and she wants me to take some photos for there website/leaflet's ect. Now this kind of photography will be new to me so any advice will be appreciated. Will be getting a nikon d700+24-70 this thursday but i was thinking of maybe hiring another lens to use, any ideals what other lens i should hire if any.So any one.

I shot some photos of a new restaurant as a favour yesterday (not my usual photography either) - took all my main lenses but only ended up using the 24-70. Was great for those nice wide angle shots in a smallish bar.

Cheers shutter what do you think of maybe a 16mm fisheye do you think it would have been any good?

Have never tried a 16mm fisheye but personally for me the 24 on full frame was loads wide enough. Do a google or look at other restaurant websites and take a look at how others have done them so you can get an idea and see what you think might suit. Will possibly post a few I did - just waiting for the people I did them for to take a look first.

Fisheyes rarely do interiors justice, although it's possible to stitch several fisheye shots together to get a 360 degree lookaround. You might be better off with an ultra wide lens that'll give you a view of the whole room - try the Sigma 12-24 or the Nikkor 14-24. On full frame, they should cover the room if you stand in the corner. Perspective will look a little odd but distortion is kept to a minimum.

Whenever I'm taking interior shots I reach for my Canon 10-22mm. That's on a crop sensor, so it equates to about 16-35mm on full frame.

The Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 and 17-35mm f/2.8 are both exceptionally good lenses. Or, as suggested above, the Sigma 12-24mm is insanely wide on full frame.

Thanks all, the thing i will only be able to afford to hire one lens and it is not just a case of interior shots there is the exterior and also the village, harbour ect i might go for the 14-24 from stawart. cheers gary

Dam or maybe the 70-200 decisions, decisions.

Thanks all, have just put a order in to hire the nikon 14-24 from lensesforhire many thanks gary:thumbs:

UPDATE: didn't see you last reply. Seems like a good decision.

It depends on the room. I recently used 17mm on a D300 and it wasn't wide enough (that's 24mm FX equivalent). However 24mm on a D700 might be enough for you, I don't know your shooting style or what the requirement is. There are two alternatives to look at, the glorious 14-24 and the new 16-35 VR. My preference would be the 14-24. I've seen some beautiful indoor shots with that.Check this article:

look at the second picture down and read the text.
