Im going to Aviemore this Saturday for two weeks, I want to photography but I don't know where is the best locations to photograph? I am willing to travel within 2 hours away from Aviemore to do photography, you guys know where is the best places?

Thanks!

Sorry I should said what I like to photograph: I'd like to go to places where I can see the waterfalls, lakes etc...

For a fabulous trip - try nipping through to Loch Lochy on the A68 and up Loch Ness-side to Inverness and back to Aviemore. It's been a while since I did that but it's probably a 2 hour trip in its own right. But the vicinity of Aviemore lends itself to photography - you won't have to look too hard.

Take your camping gear and go down Glen Feshie in the Cairngorms! I've been down there twice and camped overnight once beside Ruigh-aiteachain Bothy with some friends.

There is the obvious option of going up the Cairngorm Mountain Railway (or walk up from the car park) to the Ptarmigan Resturant and Shop and getting a few snaps up there too.

The walk around Loch an Eilein is quite scenic too, with the ruin of a small castle on an island in the middle.

Will get back to you if I think of anything else.

You won't be short of photographic oppurtunities in the Highlands :)

Glen coe is probally about 2 hours drive and worth it. Alot of waterfalls and dramatic scenery :)

thanks for all your comments! :) ill add the places on my list heh :D

Go from Aviemore to Boat of Garten on the Steam Railway (it's only a short trip).

You can stay in the bothy as well;) It's an MBA bothy, open to all...

Loch an Eilein and Loch Morlich are the two obvious contenders, but I'd recommend Lochan Uaine, up past Glenmore Lodge. As Aviemore is pretty central, you have a large chunk of Scotland available to you:) Take your car off to the Highland Wildlife Park at Kingussie while you're there. The Highland Folk Museum is well worth a visit too. As Steep says, the steam railway is well worth a trip. From Dalwhinnie, you can get down Loch Ericht. 30 minutes up the road is Inverness, from there, Loch Ness, Caledonian Canal and Kessock Bridge are all photo opportunities. There really is too much to list :)

I know its not waterfalls etc. but if you go over the Kessock Bridge at Inverness and head along the north shore of the Moray Firth to Fortrose and then down to the Firth side at Chanonry Point, then a couple of hours either side of high and low tide the dolphins come almost to the shore and leap about like.. well.. dolphins. :D
Its absolutely fabulous and i'll be there in a fortnight :woot:

Hope you have as good a time as I'm intending to

Andy
