Yes
I watched this on pay for view last night. Usually I find the degree of disappointment with these latest 'blockbusters' is just proportional to the degree of hype, but this a stunning film - visually jaw dropping - really, really enjoyed it.

Totally agree Cedric. Have been put off by most over hyped films of recent and thus put off seeing Avatar.
Watched it a couple of weeks ago on Blu Ray and must admit I was blown away by it. The storyline, production and CGI were quite simply breathtaking.

Watching it in 3-D is even better.

Reminded me of Dances with Wolves in a way on a bigger scale with a better ending

You really need to see it in 3D to get the full experience :)

I think it's supposed to be coming back to the cinema in December.

Ah, there must be a load of AVATAR toys due out for chrismas too  or am I just too cynical? :naughty:

Ahh thats how I felt until I watched it with family Neil.

Do watch it - it is a fairly cool action film too...

I didn't want to see it at the cinema due to the hype. The Mrs rented it on DVD and we watched it last night. WOW! Show's off my new HD telly colours and images were fantastic and a not to bad story to go along with it! And thats on my 6 year old pioneer DVD player, what will it be like on Sony's latest Blue ray offerings?!

I must admit, I had no real interest in it and only bought it for the kids but thought it was excellent a really good film! :D

I am not really into watching films, however, I did buy this one and really enjoyed it.

Same. I was expecting to be completely disappointed, but I was pleasantly surprised. :)

I think the directors cut is coming out for christmas. The original was pulled from the cinemas to make way for another film so they are going to have a second bite at the pie (wallet)

I saw it, and its awesome but just a normal 2D copy...:whistling: Want to see it on Blu ray 3D though dunno when. :/

Saw it when it came out, its visually very good but the story is a bit lame tbh.

The story is not original (what is these days) it's "Pocahontas" retold. I bought the Bluray but none of my players would play it so I watched the dvd, it was ok, since upgraded both the tv and the BD player and the difference is spectacular!

I saw it at the cinema in 3D. It was the first 3D film I've seen where the 3D actually enhances the film, rather than just has a couple of objects flying out of the screen at the audience - but then, Avatar was properly developed as a 3D project.

I don't own a 3DTV, and I don't think any other sane person will anytime soon either. If you haven't seen it at the cinema - and if it comes back - then it's well worth going along. Even if you think the story is poo (I didn't, I enjoyed it), you can at least marvel at the technology that went into it.

I'd actually sell my left leg to see Avatar in 3D IMAX. For some reason I never went to the cinema to see it! :bang: :bonk:

I did see it in 3D at the cinema and I was really dissappointed - sure it looks great but that's all it is. For me the story is poor and predictable and the characters weak... there is only so long something looking good will hold my interest - there has to be a bit of substance behind it too.

As someone else said it's Smurfahontas. Pocahontas crossed with Dances With Wolves populated by Smurfs.

I tortured myself watching it on a flight to Dubai in April and it's quite frankly pants. Virtually no story, the dialogue could have been written by a 5 year old, you could see the plot coming 5 miles away and the special effects were OK but I've seen better on a computer game.

When I first watched it, after about the ten minutes I just thought plight of the Native American meets Save the Rain Forest. Still enjoyed it though.

Story - 5/10
Visual Style -10/10

The story is entertaining and charming in the way a naughty puppy is = you like it, even if it's a bit sh**y. But the visual style is amazing. And as a film geek the way it was made just makes it that more special for me.

I wasn`t dissapointed when I watched it at the cinema Ced`s, other than imo they should have actually shown some real footage of what we are doing to this planet. Some 3D of the enormous landfill sites that dominate this planet might have put things into perspective a bit more.

I loved the film, I was a little bit sceptical about it as I am with all cartoon based films but this one was unreal. It's the first time I have watched 3D and it's amazing. I keep meaning to buy myself a blueray player and watch it at home.

I wasn't all that fussed about seeing it either but then Tesco's decided to release the DVD for a tenner and I figured 'what the hell'... I actually really enjoyed it too. Granted, the plot was a little too obvious but the effects and soundtrack were outstanding! :)

Stolen from some place else...

Started off good and then it got soppy and I got bored. Like Sean, I'd say story is 5/10 but visual effects are 10/10. But I would've hoped after the amount of time it took to make it would've had a decent story line!
