I'm gonna see it at some point, but I found out its not actually about avatars (humanoid/corporeal representations of non corporeal conciousses eg computer or sun god or something) which kinda sucked as I was up for a slightly surreal film
i saw it at the brand new imax that opened in newcastle. the story is hammy, but the effects are amazing. i don't think theres any comparison between a regular cinema screen and a 40ft plus digital imax monster.
I hope to see it, btw I know its certificate 12, but do you think thatd' be okay for an 8 yr old? I ask because he's seen all the harry potter and pirates since he was 6, and they're were all 12, but they are still 'family entertainment'.

went to see it last night, the story was ok (dont think its good for cameron though) nothing spectacular and 40mins too long, but nothing special, all very predictable etc.
However lets face it no one is actually going to see this film for the storyline, everyones interested in the 3D right..?
some of the 3D effects were mind blowing however alot of it looked like those shoebox theatres with people against a distant background, it didnt always gel well. but on the whole its a new dimension for cinema and a reason to go. When the film companies really get to grips with what is possible it should be very effective.
Aye, Watched it last week with the family, the stories nowt special but its awesome to look at.
Apparently James Cameron did the special effects on his laptop while watchin Eastenders.
