Massachusetts Institute of Technology claim to have developed an algorithm to automatically remove reflections from images taken through windows.

Anyone who has taken photos from the Shard would welcome such a program!

Be interesting to see (a) How well it works in the real world, and (b) Whether it is taken up commercially.

On a side note.. Am going up the shard to take pics in a few weeks time.. Am told level 72 open to elements so I presumed no glass ?

Goddammit. Just returned from London and went to the Shard. Glass was dirty and reflections made it difficult to get good photos. Only took the G12 though.

High places in London with no glass in the way:
  • The top of the Monument
  • The "Lantern" of St Paul's Cathedral
Obviously neither are as high as the Shard
The latter is my favourite for views.
I also understand there is a tower at Wesminster Cathedral (NOT the Abbey) that has public access, but I've not been there.

Doesn't exactly appear to be perfect, as seems to be the case with most of these innovations, nevertheless interesting.
