Autofocus not working in LV

Basically what it says in the thread title.

I have a lens that focuses fine through the viewfinder but in liveview it doesnt focus.

its only with this one lens and not with any others.

anyone heard of this problem?
 
What's the camera and the lens. I know from previous experience that some of the tamrons don't work in liveview and that the lens requires the chip updating from tamron.

Had the same problem with my old D7000 and a Sigma 10-20. I'm not sure if the new generation bodies/lenses are more compatible but the only way to insure it'll work is get the Nikon equivalent.

However, I think I read somewhere that you could get certain lenses re-chipped to resolve the problem but it sounded expensive and because I didn't use live view much I didn't pursue it.
