Autofocus issues with Sigma 150-600C

Yes
Two issues with this lens on a Canon 7Dii:

- at 600mm it will not refocus from close range to a distant subject and vice-versa unless I start with manual focus. It is OK at 300mm but not above. Using the centre point AF point.

- is it too slow for tracking birds in flight at 600mm.

All firmware up to date.

I found a video review which found similar issues to my first issue. Sigma will accept the lens back for testing and repair but is this likely to be a waste of time if the lens is just not capable of anything better?

Anybody with similar experiences?

Yes it was me. Having done more testing and spoken to Sigma I was trying to be more specific.

As I said in the other thread I had the same issue with regard to focus lock on when I borrowed an 80D off of Amazon yet on my MKI 7D I have no such problems. Unfortunately I didn't try the Sigma 150-600mm sport on the Canon M5 before I sold it but it seems to me it happens on the newer Canon bodies so I am wondering if it's something to do with the dual pixel focusing system.

Sigma have just put new mounts on 3 of my Pentax fit lenses and currently have my K-1 in for repair due to a lens of theirs scratching the body so I will ask them if there are any known issues with the new Canon bodies

Edit: After having a quick look round using Google I can't find many post from other users which I would have thought there would be loads if there was a known problem.

If it is not a known problem I will return to Sigma.

I have the this lens on a 7d2 it is very sharp and quick to focus. Do you have the dock.

Mine will stop focusing now and again but if I twist the lens at the mount as if I was putting it on the camera and it works fine.

I have the dock. Firmware is up to date and I have played with the settings. I tried the lens with a 1Diin and after few attempts it would refocus without any manual adjustments. I will return to Sigma for them to check. If they don't find a fault I'll decide if I need a lens with better AF.

Regards

Update. Lens was returned to Sigma and they replaced the AF motor, so it was faulty. Hopefully an uncommon issue.
