A decent race, BBC did a good job on the coverage.

Well done Jenson aswell, some great racing, people say the KERS is poor but i enjoyed watching it being used

It was a good first half of the race and a good last few laps (fell asleep watching it cos 6 am is far too early for me :D)

Grats to Button though. :clap:
 
I stopped watching F1 a few years ago because it was becoming boring and repetitive (IMHO of course) but I decided to give it a go this morning and I'm so glad I did. Well done to Button, Barrichello and the Brawn team and also to Hamilton for getting 4th spot after such a nightmare qualifying. Will definitely be watching the rest of the season! :thumbs:

what i think will be good when perhaps more cars are running kers is to have a graphic that shows more than one cars kers usage, would be interesting to see its usage by both drivers in a battle, especially at somewhere like monza.


enjoyed the race, overall a good job by the bbc, the new cars are ugly as sin but showed they can run much closer together. and its good that the new rules have tipped the applecart over and jumbled up the form books
 
Hamilton is promoted to 3rd as Trulli is penalised 25 secs, and Vettel gets a 10 place drop for Malaysia, its racing FFS.
 
Vettel has also been fined $50,000 for not stopping after the accident and continuing

Bit harsh as well as a 10 grid penalty IMO, it was a racing incident, drivers are there to race and hold positions, not let anyone past
 
Personally i thought it was a bit of joke at times.

Although the FIA have lifted the the fine on Vettel as the team instructed him to continueas it was clear the race was going to finish under safety car, they will still have to pay though, totally agree with the fine tbh. But the 10 grid slot demotion is stupid, i really doubt think there much more Vettel could have done as in getting out the way at the time and was more then entitled to fight his position, Kubica could easily have left a little more space rather then cutting so close to the apex he would have had the clear racing line for the next corner, 50;50 racing. Got ask though if that was worthy of a grid drop, then so should Barrichello for the turn 1 incident that ended more then one cars chance of racing, he then went on to lean on a couple of other cars.

And how long to get the safety car out after Nakagama fell off, i thought that was clear cut safety car, but it took what 3 laps to get out, then got that completely wrong by sending out to pick up the wrong car.

The Brawn and Williams cars do look a tad hard to follow compared to some of the rest, and can fully see the biff the other teams have, although they legal to the letter of the law, but are not in the spirit of the changes. I can see a rule clearification on the cards that will make them ilegal as from Europe, either that or all teams will be running something simular.

Had to laff at Williams making a complaint against both Ferrari and Redbulls cars but then retracting it, looks like theres going to as much if not more action in the court rooms off track then on it.

i thought the replays made it fairly clear that kovalienen gave him a clout up the backside which made him hit the other car, which then lead to heiki loosing a wheel.

i think rubens was pretty fair in admitting his fault in the coming together with the ferrari, he got in too hot under braking and lost the back end.

Tbh, i couldnt give a dam about any of those incidents, altough from the live feed i wasnt paying much attention but cant remember Heiki hitting first, if that the case then Heiki, (for that one) Rubens for the hitting Massa, and Vettel should have 10 grid drops next race.

Racing incidents happen when racing which i strongly beleive that Vettels incident was both party's could have prevented that one.

dont get me wrong i think that vettel/kubica was 50:50 both could have avoided it, but both chose not to in the heat of the moment. i dont agree for that one that they deserved anything more than an equal *******ing for both partys!
 
I really do wish they would stop punishing racing incidents - if they do, racers will stop racing and it will become more and more Formula Follow.

It was good to see Button win, he deserves it after all the **** he's had in the past few years, he has commitment to a team and its good to see that unlike some drivers that chop and change all the time.

The safety car was a joke, the track was practically clear by the time it was deployed, then they spent 3 laps trying to catch the right guy. Finally when they caught him they spent another couple laps going round for no reason!!
 
good race, commentary settled down, the quali commentary was a bit of brundle and legard tripping over each other, but they gelled well. Better than JA for sure! Not sure i like the dude presenting it though, he aint doing kids tv anymore, someone should tell him...
 
I was a bit annoyed they had cut out a load of the post-race interviews from the repeat in the afternoon. I did watch one on BBC's F1 site though and couldn't believe how arrogant Eddie Jordan was being, criticising Vettel for apologising.
 
How gutted am I - managed to miss both the live coverage AND the re-run :'(
This is the first GP I have missed in over 10 years and I have really been watching as long as I can remember coz it was something my dad and I enjoyed together until he passed away last year (even had us watching it together in the hospital during his final days).

Unfortunately my lovely family do not get it - ex-husband never did and although I have 4 sons none of them are "into it" - they do MotoGP instead. Missed the live coverage due to inconsiderate teenagers waking me up at 2am when they got in slightly worse for wear and not very quiet. Planned to see the re-run at 1pm, even got dinner organised for a later start (no point feeding recovering teenagers early LOL), then my sister-in-law arrived unannouced at 12.45pm and stayed till 3.30 - I could have screamed. At least with ITV coverage they did a re-run later in the evening. Now all I have seen is the final 4 mins on You Tube!!

Hope everyone else enjoyed it anyway.

The hour preamble chat before the race was very poor I thought, and the BBC team commentary team will get better over time (again anything is better than ITVs I love lewis commentary from the last two years).

The cars look to be able to run much closer which is great, and should provide better racing over the season. I do however have a problem with the BRAND NEW Braun team, a new engine and paint job does not make a team brand new.
 
I think that Eddie Jordan thinks he has a massive influence on the whole circus, he seemed annoying at times IMO

not keen on that new commentator also, maybe in a few races they will work better together but who knows
 
i think the whole vettell fine and grid drop was not due to the crash but the fact that he carried on for 2 or 3 laps with the front left hanging off, which is illegal, nothin to do with the actual crash as that seemed 50/50.

The grid penalty is for the acident, the fine was for continuing with a damaged car, like i said earlier have no bone's with the fine, or if even the grid penalty was for continuing, but that report clearly says the grid penalty was causing the crash. The fine on him has been lifted and squarely laid on the team for telling him to continue.

Not the first time he has been heavily penilsed for something like that, remember the slight tap to Massa last year, which i dont think was any worse the Rubens on Massa this weekend.


People have accused FIA of being pro ferrari, but they seem to be more anti Vettel.

Yeah, we'll see how he works out over the season but not a good first opinion on me for the first race of the year.
 
Ferrari International Assistance to the rescue again :bang::thumbsdown:

I don't know how people could take on the role of F1 stewards knowing that any decision made is likely to be overturned.

I'll agree this season is already turning into a fass, but from the transcripts, i think Mclearn only have themselfs to blame for this one.
