Hiya Aurorae, that's a cracker for me. Lovely shine on the coat, great composition (and I don't mind the fence) and perfectly on theme. You did well to capture such a strong image in fairly high sun conditions
Thanks for all of your comments, it's appreciated I'm really hoping I'll learn a lot from doing this. Back to work tomorrow though which always makes it harder as self employed. Managed to free up weekends now though which is great so plan on using those to learn.
Just catching up on your thread… please excuse me if my comments are a few weeks at a time… I tend to just get bursts of time!
Loved your first picture and have nothing to add on your image. depth of field on the leaf is perfect and adds to the emphasis on the front and leaf patterns.
As for your second shot… firstly i've not much experience taking pics of dogs but from the little i have done i've found it tricky as unless you keep quite far back like you have… they move to fast to compose and focus. That said i'd love to have seen your shot with a viewpoint a bit further to the right and a bit lower… but that said I know how difficult getting there would be. I just think that would have emphasised the theme more… but I know I'm being picky! As for the exposure you've done well on a bright day!
One question… why is your dog not allowed a stick! I thought all dogs were allowed sticks? I know very little about dogs though!
It was a quick 'oh look!' and shoot Thanks for your comments.
He actually eats the sticks so no go here. They have caused serious injuries in dogs too (splinter in throat, lodged between teeth, pierced skin through bouncing back up when thrown etc, so I never encourage, but do allow a grab a stick and run moment
Great expression on his face - He does look blissfully happy with his stick. Fits the theme perfectly. I like the square crop too. As has been said, it's good to be on the same level as your subject but the fence is in view. Not much that could be done about that though. Lovely photo especially as it was as you say a quick 'oh look!' and shoot.
Thanks for all of your comments, much appreciated, after a busy week (I'm self employed) I'm going to try and get this week's theme done and catch up on comments Gutted about the weather today, wanted to go out exploring and play with my camera outside. Awful out there!
