Aurora alert

are there any reliable predictions as to the extent of which it may be viible in the UK? I.e. how far south?

That map and info on the above link seems to suggest that it'll be visible on the horizon in Moscow, 55degress north, which is roughly the same latitude as Newcastle.
I'm on 54degrees 54', so you never know :)

Great news. Though forecast looks to be broken cloud. Think I'll head over to the coast and keep my fingers firmly crossed.

cloud cover here and way too far south though alledgedly could be visible from all over uk

If anyone has clear skies may be worth a trip out tonight. Aurora Watch currently has a red alert so a good chance of seeing something if it lasts.

A very different magnetic latitude though between Moscow & Newcastle (consequence of the magnetic pole and the geographical pole not being coincident...)
