Cool, live in Wisbech so might pop down. Iconic trademark off Lynn I believe!

I'll set my alarm and see if I can actually get out of bed :)

If Campbells Meadow is closed I wonder where the best viewpoint would be ?

Quite tempted to force myself out of bed and drive there just to see it, dont get to see something like this often.

As Steve said, any ideas for good viewpoints?

The news article is suggesting everyone viewing will be in B&Q car park. Dont know if thats any good, Ive never been. :)

The best view is the area behind Campbell's and towards the bypass (or a strategic break-down on the A47), but that will be cordoned off as part of the danger area from what I've read. I might try up by the "silver balls" on the new link road (locals will know where I mean) just to get something different from everyone at B&Q.

Always loved that building, sucks it getting knocked down.

I agree. When I was a nipper, we had friends who lived on the North Norfolk coast. I always used to look out for the tower as I knew then we were nearly there.

Since they took the insides out, there's not much holding it up by all accounts. I'm amazed the wind didn't take it down a couple of weeks ago..

Gutten im out of the area for this :( kings lynn doesnt have too many iconic buildings anyway its a shame it has to go

I would love to go and have a look around at it empty, but obviously no chance now.

Actually I would love the letters off it. Not sure how they would fit in the back of my Focus without attracting attention

The letters have gone already, the Lynn News blew the gaff on that by slapping the question of what was happening to them across the front page.. thereby destroying the time honoured tradition of slipping the demolition foreman some beer money "for the lads".

There's a report on 28DL where someone went for a wander, by all accounts somewhat dull and uninteresting, although the piers that the buildings were constructed on weren't obvious from outside.

I have it on very, very good authority that the letters are in the possession of the developer and they will be integrated into the new site.

The best vantage point I've seen is along the a47 between the pullover roundabout and the hardwick roundabout there is a clear view on a little bridge bit if you can brave the dual carriageway.

And at least if you stay far back you'll be able to avoid the 'special' kings Lynn people!

I wasn't the only one to decide that the best vantage point was from the linik road close to the "silver balls".

I must have been very close :D

Steve.. did you have trouble crossing the ditch? I'm trying to figure out if you're in front of me (and must be in the shot) or if you had a longer lens and was stood behind me.. (I was just off the link road, didn't wander far from the car)..

I think I must have been behind you and to your left.
Started off nearer to Saddlebow and started walking to look for a spot. Crossed the 'new' footbridge and ended up standing in the landscaped area adjacent to the link road.

I had a monopod - almost everyone had a camera so we all looked toggish.

You were behind me then, I saw some folk on that bank. As it turned out where I parked was pretty much perfect for my 105mm.

I went for a different spot behind and between Tesco's (spit's) and Range.

nice pics guys! did the ground move?

It looked a pretty soft landing from where I was, no movement on the tripod I was using to shoot video, but I was a good distance away and I imagine up-close it thumped.

Good choice !
I had assumed that area would have been closed down.

It was fenced off right up to the back of Tesco's but there's plenty off room behind the Range and as it turned out a good spot i think.

Cheers

Steve

The guts of the tower looked good with the sunset behind them tonight, I'm not sure how long they'll last at the rate the wrecking crew are cutting into it.

i saw the clips on youtube, it must have been the most underwhelming explosion ever... it just fell over. you guys captured it well!

you can see the dramatic collapse here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlMDM7DAdl8
