I'm after a new pair of walking trousers, can anyone recomend a good pair? I don't want to spend masses, but they could do with being water resistant and not be way baggy as I'd like them to fit comfortably under an abseiling harness.

i have had a couple of pairs of craghoppers. they are always comfy and thay dry quick if they get wet. have deep pockets too so handy to store bits in and dont lose coins from them when sat in the car.(a pet hate)

I'm thinking Craghoppers actually. I had a pair a while ago and they were great. Off to Millets tomorrow so I'll see what they've got in stock there, I'm afte a pair of CragKiwis ideally. Cheers :)

ive got some tog24 waterproof trousers which i use when riding my bike, i dont find them too baggy at all really and only ocasionally catch them in the chainrings!

i think they cost about £25 but they do a variety of different trousers at varying prices

I use North Face kit, superb, not sure of the name of mine but don't tend to bother with waterproofs anymore as they dry that fast its untrue, even in consistent wet weather they seem to work well, I tend to have a pair of Helly Henson tights underneath aswell.

Millets FTW, I'm Army so get 10% discount

montane terra thermic - highly recommended - hubby has just got some and loves them - he got them for just over £50 - he spends every spare moment climbing/mountaineering/hillwalking etc

(he also got paramo salopette type pants but they're £190 !)

 I looked at North Face ones too (to match my jacket) and the'yre around the same. No thanks! lmao. I'll probably only use them once or twice a month!

well he got them free along with a jacket (worth £250 !!!) so I was a happy bunny (or should I say squirrel?)

I got an email from Craghoppers this week.

Is this code of use to anyone?

Is that just for their online store though?

It will be.

I ordered a pair of lined walking trousers at the beginning of the week and I'm still waiting for them. They seem to be a bit slow sending stuff, either that or out postie fancied trying them:(. I'm also hoping they fit, I have shorts the same waist size, I tend to buy gents as the sizing seems to be more reliable.

Keep an eye on www.mandmdirect.com as they have a lot of Berghaus stuff on there at crazy prices.

I bought an Ator Jacket which should have been £250 for £79 last year and a pair of their Gortex shoes for £35, down from £90.

Well I went for a pair of Crag Kiwis, lined of course. Comfy as anything, looking forward to getting on the hills now...provided it stops raining! :bag:

Thanks for the guidance people :)

I work outdoors and me and most of my colleagues use Craghoppers Kiwi trousers, they are very comfortable and can take a real punishment. I'm usually lucky to get a year out of work trousers but the three pairs I have are well over two years old now and still going strong, maybe a couple of seam repairs.
