Here at Talk Photography we have noticed an increase in the amount of antagonistic and rude behaviour towards some new members in response to their questions.

This type of immature behaviour is akin to playground bullying and will not be tolerated as it is completely at odds with the spirit and ethos of this forum and will only drive members away. Recent events in a thread have led to five members having some time off from the forum to think about their actions - our equivalent of the naughty step.

For those of you who wish to indulge in this immature behaviour please take note that further incidents of this nature will result in longer suspensions or even permanent bans if staff deem it appropriate.

First and final warning.

Unfortunately there really seems to be a shortage of tact and manners of late...I couldn't believe one particular thread I read earlier :thumbsdown:

I hope people think before they post and put themselves in the shoes of the member, particularly new ones..
 
Read and well put Hacker C&C is one thing but not just taking the ****

EDIT* i was hoping the swear filter was working on that one :)

Just a shame people cant get along and give out \ accept C&C in the way its intended. Hopefully this reminder will do some good!

I am pleased that this has come up as a few threads lately have been down right disgusting of late.
I am always of the opinion if you have nothin nice to say do not say it unless asked for.

I am new here and have learned alot in the last few weeks from advice off members which is what this site is all about, and hope it continues.

Well said Hacker, I have been deliberating about typing a post regarding my college course asking for opinions but second guessing the replies likely to come back.

go for it and post it! I did a college course in Photography (AS Level) so I for one would be interested!
 
As someone who recently made one of these comments, I can only hold up my hands, apologise and self-moderate my behaviour in future.

Apologies to all concerned.
 
It is sad that some can not behave politly but TALK PHOTOGRAPHY is still overwhelmingly polite , helpfull and extremely informative to those of us who love our photography and have much to learn.A big thankyou to you guys who give of their time to keep it as it is . HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A PEACEFULL NEW YEAR TO ALL. :clap::clap::clap:

Well said! :thumbs: got to admit I was shocked by what was being said earlier on today and in some other recent threads hope this has the desired effect and some normality can be resumed.

Good to this this sort of thing - well done! Too many forums that were once 'good' have descended into places to avoid. I'm new here an would like to have a long and happy stay!

Free speech is, like, sooooo 1960's, man.
Dictatorship, overzealous moderation, and oppression ..... it's coming to a store near you, fresh for 2010.


Or it could just be the culling of rudeness dressed up as 'honesty'. :shrug:
