Ok I have got as far as getting it into my Gallery, next step is placing it in a thread.
I have cut and pasted the url in my galleryto my post but when I preview my post should I be able to view the image? all I see is just the url:help:

Had a look at Robert P's tutorial but mine does not show a "BB" code

Think the gallery has got a bug at the moment and it's not generating the BB code. right click the image and then click "copy image location"

Then when you go to write a post, click the little square mountain in a box on the gallery bar
insertimage.gif
then paste the code in there.

Did that make sense

When I click copy image location nothing happens:thinking:

Yep I think there is a bug too

"open" the uploaded image click on the url below the picture click copy,
on your post right click and then click paste this is what you get then remove the bit that says thumbs that should give you a full sized image

http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/gallery/data/500/ thumbs /map1.jpg
I have also removed the "img" tags ( otherwise all you woul dsee is the picture) but you need to leave that in

You may have guessed I am not that computer literate, thanks I will now have another go..........don't go away:)

I'm giving myself a right headache over this , it all needs to just "click into place for me" :bang:

Cobra, Matty, thanks for all the help tonight but I will have to leave it for now and have another go tomorrow, got things to do, take dogs out and load the stove up for the night then much needed sleep as I have been giving it 6 nowt at the gym to get my weight down for the slimming thread.

Lots of thanks Mal.

Might speak tomorrow:thankyou:

Still trying:bang:.
This is what I am doing;
1. open my gallery,
2. click on the thumbnail,
3. Highlight "linked thumbnail" url,
4. Ctrl+c,
5. Go to bird/animal section, new thread,
6. Click the mountain thingy,
7. Click on the box,
8. Ctrl+v,
9. Url appears in blue under my description of the image,
10. Click preview and it only shows the url not the image.

Matty, it does not work for me your way.
Cobra, I am no thicky but to be honest I do not understand your way.

Try this way for now.

View your image then Right click it and choose properties

This is Firefox. The box may look slightly different in Internet Explorer but the address line will be there. Left (normal) click near one end of the text and drag across it to select (highlight) it and let go of the left mouse button. Now Right click on the highlighted text and choose copy.

Now you can close the picture and come back to where you want to post. As mentioned above, click the picture postcard icon. Now Right click on the already highlighted text in the box and choose paste. Then OK the box.

Finish typing other text and job done.

edit: just a note to say this is essentially the same as an earlier suggestion but you should be able to see what you are doing a bit more.

Thanks Robert will give that a go. I am using the latest Firefox browser, but a few of the problems I have had in the past on other sites have been the fault of the Vista operating system.
