Athlon powered computer stop working after last update?

yeah for sure I did used to have an Athlon 64 as a games machine years ago, pretty beefy at the time.
 
Pretty old, certainly, but there's likely a few still in circulation.
 
Depends on the generation, but AMD "Athlon" processors are still available (and advertised as being compatible with Win10), some Athlon X4 processors were only launched in the summer. I would assume it's for an older generation that MS have tried to patch by looking for a part of the (older) CPU that doesn't exist, fails and crashes.
 
There is 7 year old AMD CPU powering desktop PC I use for all my editing etc. If I don't finish this sentence you know the update has just instal...
