Asus Bloatware

Hi all, recently purchased a new laptop, an Asus Zenbook and noticed it has a lot of 'ASUS' programmes installed on it. Do I need them? I'm guessing not but am I ok to remove them?

I'm not sure they're having a detrimental effect on it with regards to speed though so should I just leave them be?

Any advice much appreciated.

They are all and only promoting their need for your money
plus they kidnap precious space real estate. DELETE!

Just get the tools you need.

Cool, thanks Daniel. Not sure I need any tools, I can just uninstall them in the programme list, can't I?

In fact, that would be better than just delete
since prefs and others will be deleted as well!

So i used the 'decrapifier' and it recommended nothing :LOL:

Well, the name is good!

If you don't need something… bin it!

On MAC, there are specific softwares that turn on
as you delete the main application and will remove
ALL related files to it!

Only this afternoon I used it on a zenbook and got the same result - no recommendations.

Installed ccleaner instead and used it to uninstall most things - sort by manufacturer and remove anything from Asus, as well as other stuff you don't need.

Would do a bit of research first.

For example hp install a lot of bloat, however blanket uninstalling every hp package would also remove the software controlled WiFi toggle.

Just saying.

Thanks both. I've done it all manually now and googled each one to make sure it wasn't going to cause any issues. Some of it seems ok so I've kept it. Will see how i get on.

Yeah, should have said that. Some few Asus utilities are necessary. A quick search is worth doing.
