Hi Folks,

I have been working in photoshop for a few years now and wouldn't say I was anything more than a novice. I have taken a photo on my travels recently that I really like however I am unsure what direction to go in editing wise.

Any inspirations/comments/help would be much appreciated. I want the photo to really stand out as I plan on using it on my personal Instagram which I am trying to develop my following.

Please feel free to edit it yourselves if its easier to do so than explain to me.

Thanks again

Renclio

It's over saturated at the moment in my opinion. I would raise the shadows slightly, desaturate the blue and greens (likely to be some orange in those greens too) and perhaps shift the hue of the greenery to more of a green and less of an orange.

I would go for more of a sombre look rather than a vibrant look.

My first thought was also that it looks over saturated.

As for editing it, I think that if you're trying to create a following then perhaps you need to develop your own style. Maybe do a few edits yourself and see which you prefer and then build on that until you're happy.

Hi! I really like the composition. Where was the photograph taken, if you don't mind my asking? I lived in Greece, speak the lingo and can read the Greek letters.

I can't help with Photoshop. Could you post the photo in its original state? The colours look a bit unnatural, as Oliver has said above. A great pic, though:)!

Black and White version?

Thanks for the feedback, I would agree with you about the saturation, I will try and tone things done a bit. I am looking for that WOW factor though so I am finding it difficult to find the balance.

Yea I agree with the saturation and your comments. I am at the stage where I have edited about 10 times now and the above is the best I have so far. I have ran out of inspiration now unfortunately.

Thanks :) it was taken in Berlin actually.

This was one of my edits. However just doesn't work for me. Thanks for the edit though.

I was thinking black and white but think there's to much going on and it looks too fussy in b&w.

Agreed.

Open in ACR (See insert)

Open in PS, crop adding to sides, fill addition using content aware, adjust perspective, add warm filter.

Rhodese.

I don't really shoot this kind of thing so feel free to take my comments with a pinch of salt. They're going to seem a bit harsh; my apologies in advance.

To me it looks over-saturated, has had the shadows lifted too far and the highlights recovered too much. It's also looks as though you've done a bit much to the local contrast or over-sharpened it.

I'd go back to the raw file and fix the converging verticals first.

It was clearly shot in bright sunshine. There are some hard-edged shadows there which you've nearly removed altogether. I'd try to capitalise on the light that was there rather than trying to make it look like something different; make a feature of the shadows.

The juxtaposition of the circle and the square of the building is interesting but I'd still experiment with a close square crop which loses the front edge of the lawn.

Could you post the original unedited version for people to have a play with?

This would be the best option if you're really looking for assistance - the shot you've posted has already been saturated to within an inch of its life, and it's a low resolution copy. Any edits are going to be seriously compromised by existing edit artifacts...

Ideally, post a link to the original file, RAW if you shot it... or, PM the link to members on request, on the understanding that they a) send you back a full edit version or instructions on how to produce it yourself, and b) that if they post the version on TP, that it's at the usual screen friendly resolutions (ideally not more than 1200px longest side).

Hi Callum, Sorry, It's Over saturated to death- the grass looks almost radio-active ( no offence)

here's my take on it, given the advice from Mark - (TheBigYin) above- its difficult to edit an edit RAW file would be best
