Assist Beam not working?

Howdy,

Im using a Canon 40D with a Canon 430EX II.
The flash doesnt seem to be using the AF Assist Beam.
Have checked flash & camera settings and they are both enabled.
Testing in low light & very dark and no response.
Flash is seeing it as ETTL and zoom is working fine.

Any ideas? :help:

funnily enough i thought mine was broken for ages, until last week when i realised it doesnt work on AI servo :)

I was filling my pants with the same problem the other day... how silly I felt when I thought 'I'll stick it in one shot' and it worked :whistling: :D

Yeah was already using it in ONESHOT.
Must have been a random customer function in either the flash or camera...resetting every possibly setting i could find seems to have solved the problem.

Case Close!
