Why can't we tell Ecuador to p1ss off and take their Embassy with them together with all their scrounging diplomats ……. they never pay their London parking fines anyway!

Withdraw "our lot" from Quito, or wherever they are spending taxpayers money …… it's bloody hot and sticky there anyway

Cancel all flights to Ecuador and birdwatching holidays and stop them visiting the UK

They have been sticking two fingers up to us for two, sorry, it's too, long

The police bill alone is £6m ……… it will really be ironic is Assange is sick and he checks into a London Hospital

God knows what the Government have spent with the £3,000+ a day legal boys

I have no political views either way on the activities of Mr Assange …….. but I have never been a fan of The Guardian and Rusbridger who will presumably jump to his aid

Ironically the currency of Equador is the US Dollar

Discuss, if you feel like it?

Nah, you seem to have it covered, bet you feel better after getting that off your chest :)

Not really ……… the money could have been put to far better use

@BillN_33

And breathe....breathe.....

we need to start getting tough with these Ars&hole third world countries

Possibly, but if not Assange (as claimed in your post), then why Equador?
Every foreign Embassy in london has diplomats / families / ataches / clericals staff which ignore parking / speeding fines as they know they'll never get charged. That's down to us not them.

I was planning a bird watching holiday to Ecuador next march

they cannot "b****r off" now as far as i am concerned

Cut of your own nose to spite your face.
I'm sure Equador will lose a lot of sleep about it.

the money could have been not spent in the first place. there would not be all this fuss if it hadn't of been for wiki leaks.

You will have to explain these posts a lot more to me ……….. speeding fines were just a "passing" comment

They have never been the same since they won "Miss World"

JA did not look too well on the BBC news this morning, maybe they have slipped something into his tea ……. or whatever those Ecuadorian buggers drink

trouble is the idiots running this country have no balls. All they do is come out with some bluster - "we protest in the strongest terms..." and then do naff all whether its against Putin/EU/Assange and anyone else.

It has to be said, you're not making a great deal of sense.
You're now not going to visit Equador because at some point they won Miss World.
Seriously....It's a bit early to be on the sauce!

Totally agree they are a set of "tossers"

It's well thought out comments like that keeping OOF going!

Why can't they b****r off? I thought you wanted them gone. Make your mind please, all this indecision is giving me a headache.

;)

another typo - they CAN b****r off

This Assange thing would have been solved in week 1 had we taken the Ecuadorian's black Mercs off them and banned them from the strip clubs in Soho!

Assange is a coward. It's about time he manned up and stopped hiding like a pussy.

I really admire people like Assange, Manning and Snowden. Lovely whiff of xenophobia in this thread.
They are breaking the law. At least have the balls to accept punishment. I don't agree with the excessive parking fees in Cambridge but have to abide by them. What if I decided it was ok to drive after 5 pints?

I think there's a small moral difference between drunk driving and whistle blowing the US government's illegal activities.

It's highly likely that one of three things would happen ...

1). You'd make it home with no trouble but then in the morning you'd begin to wonder how you managed it without crashing or getting nicked.
2). You'd crash
3). You'd get nicked

So what would you like them to do? Without putting the security of every member of the UK Diplomatic Service in jeopardy?

So when North Korea, Zimbabwe or Argentina take offence to something we do and locks up our consular staff?

The Vienna Convention only works because every civilised country in the world abides by it.

I believe the word is allegedly.

Option 1 being the most likely except you wouldn't wonder about anything. Maybe 10-15 pints but 5 isn't that many. You'd know what you were doing but not be as adept at doing it.

2 would be unlikely 3 would result from 2 or being caught-fairly unlikely.

Wouldn't 5 pints be at least double the limit for driving?
I think your conclusions on the outcome based on your understanding of the average effects of alcohol on the average persons driving ability is somewhat flawed.

Not to mention regard for the law....Oh, wait.....

Probably double but unless you're a feather weight that means you will be able to stand and walk reasonably straight, whilst unfit to drive I reckon most would make it back without stacking it or getting caught

I doubt after 5 pints you'd not remember the events of the night before.

I'm not condoning drunk driving but the post I quoted was melodramatic to the point of hysteria.

I'm by no means a feather weight but I would be throwing up after 5 pints and certainly wouldn't be capable of driving!

I gave up drinking due to err issues but five pints isn't a lot. It's like ten shorts. There'd be no sickness or memory loss and I'd have no issue walking /standing etc

The fact that you can stand and walk does not mean you are safe to drive. Many people like to believe they are safe to drive after drinking because it is convenient to them to believe that. Getting home safely as a drunk 99% of the time is little consolation to the person that is maimed on the 1% occasion.

Not it doesn't, but the odds you've given as 99% of the time vs 1% says it all. It doesn't make you safe, but it doesn't make it a miracle you don't end up in the cells or can remember getting home. Thats my point, its not safe, but not such a outlandish near death thing to do either. Thats why I quoted the post, it was laughabily silly. People, rightly or wrongly, drink and drive but they probably remember doing it and weren't so out of it they couldn't begin to operate the car.

To be in the state where you don't remember getting home, trust me, you have to go through way more booze than 5 pints. 15 pints yeah, I remember even having about 10 on a night yonks ago. I walked home fine and remembered all of it. I would never have driven, I didn't own a car then but I suspect if I had driven, I'd have been able to make a fist of it and get home without incident.

But it's still against the law. Jimmy Carr and others got slated for doing something legal but was morally wrong. Whether you agree with laws or not, if you break then accept punishment. You can't just say morals over ride it.

I don't see the guy as a coward at all.
He is wanted by Sweden, so that they can try out an experimental law to bang him up for rape. This would then allow the US to extradite him on all manner of charges, and then lock him up and throw away the key.
I don't know about anyone else on here, but given the US and their so called "justice" system - Guantanamo Bay anyone? - I think that Assange is better off staying out, and thank Ecuador for letting him do so.

Why should Sweden extradite to the US. They've not asked for him, they could have asked us, and probably got him, oh they didn't.
Assange is a coward who's milking sympathy for getting others to break the law.
He really needs to man up, go and face his porridge in Sweden, and stop putting other peoples lives in danger, not to mention encouraging others to break the law, and pocketing the proceeds.
Yesterday was a stunt, he's got no intention of coming out, he just wanted some more publicity.

Well, as I always say, you are what you eat!!! C##k. :P
