ive a old canon a1 35mm camera plus loads of zoom lenses and dedicated flashes etc

if i buy a new canon digital slr will the lenses fit??????

Do the lenses have EF or FD on them?

Quick answer No.

Longer answer yes, but you need an FD to EOS adaptor and it never really works as well as you hope, with lots of compromises...

They won't the if they're for the A1 they will be FD. If they have EF on them they would fit a canon dslr.

They still won't fit. FD to EF, which is what you want, is hopeless TBH.

However, if you have a Tamron macro, that was a good lens and the fact that you lose all camera/lens communication doesn't matter so much with macro, or the fact that you can't focus on infinity. It would work with a simple adapter.
