Hi Rob,

Thanks for taking time to drop by especially on your jollies ......hope it's sunny wherever you are......not at the expense of taking ours away mindst!! lol

It actually felt good to post another shot tbh .....I have got another couple of weeks to post that were taken back in June.

As for recent shots, i need to find some motivation to get back "out there".....I have had a play around shooting some still life with a couple of cameras at home including my newly acquired RZ67 ........ with a bit of luck I'll get something half decent from them to bring my 52 up to date.

Week 25: Trip to see a Morgan

This particular week saw me heading out to follow the local vintage car club into the nearby countryside.
There were only 8 vehicles out, two of them shown here. A beautiful Morgan (not sure of age) and behind a 1954 VW open top Beetle.

Took a number of shots with three different cameras but having used two of them already in my challenge, i've picked this one out from what was captured on my Oly Trip.

A camera that many of you in F&C own yourselves.

Pretty much a point and shoot but quite a decent one ...certainly one of my favourites for capturing snapshots or if i want a film compact to carry around.

This particyular model was recently repaired by myself as it had sticking aperture blades...Now works like new!

Love the car, an old car photographed with an old camera! That camera must have been loved in its time to still have the box and instructions?!
 
Loving the bus shot, the camera must be about the same age as the camera (I'm sure there will be a bus aficionado along to put me right if I'm wrong) great to see the No.9 still going strong.

Nice shot of the Morgan, my father had one back in the 50's shame I never got to see it. Do you have any shots of the Beetle? I'm a sucker for old VW's. And yes, the Olympus Trip will make an appearance in my 52 as well, I'll have to see if I cam find a 1980's Ford Escort to take a picture of :lol:

Yes buses in general get everywhere (not just old ones) but never one around when you need one!! lol

I hadn't intended to use shots of vehicles for two weeks running, it simply fell that I had the opportunity to capture them in those particular weeks.

The metering system on the trip works pretty well in most cases even with sharp contrasts of light as in this shot......

I'm hoping to have an opportunity to capture some colour shots of these motors at some point, that will be on digital though!

lol makes me feel a little younger knowing someone else remembers the bus conductors.

Not exactly sure of the age of the camera tbh....I think it's possible to narrow the year down using the serial number and checking on some website.

Not only does it have box, instructions but also it's original lens cap!

Hi Nick,

Thanks for taking a look in on my 52 Nick.

Like many things old, those buses have so much character and were perhaps more "friendly" back then with the conductor etc ....but times move on!

If I get another chance to join these guys on the vintage car rally again I'm going to be cheeky and ask for a ride in one...the morgan particularly takes my fancy tbh.

The beetle is 1954 ....exact model etc I'm not sure but I'm sure I have some more shots knocking about .... Afterall I did take 3 cameras and approx 60 shots!
I'll post what I find on here specially for you!!

I didn't mind the 80s escort myself tbh but would love to see a shot of a Ford Capri......as a young man I yearned to own a white one but never did.

Week 26: IronMan Nice 2012

This is an annual triathlon event here in Nice that i have photographed before on digital.

This year I decided to go down onto the promenade to cheer on the tail enders of the event seeing as many of them needed and deserved encouragement to complete the gruling course of 3,8 Km swimming in the sea/ 180 Km cycle ride in the local hills / 42.2 Km ( full marathon) run on the coast.

For a laugh I attempted to pan with a camera that has one aperture, one shutter speed and a waist level viewfinder :gag:

This one one of the better ones....I try and come with excuses for my poor panning skills with modern digi kit, at least this time I can blame my efforts on the limits of my equipment!!:p

Week 27: Stan & Eddie

Who remembers the two bin men Stan Ogden and Eddie Yeats who starred in a very well known UK television soap? Don't worry, makes me feel old too! ...:D

The local refuse collectors (I think that is the more politically correct name nowadays!;)
still stand on the rear foot plates of the wagon down here, something that stopped in the UK ( or at least where i lived) quite a number of years ago.

I know Eddie went "up in the world" and entered into the life of Hyacinth Bouquet as her brother in law Onslow, what hapened to Stan, i have no idea!

Spooling the film onto the developing reel was, on this occassion, a nightmare....sadly I scratched more than one frame in the frustration.

I am pretty sure that the scratch on this shot could be removed in pp but as I'm not up on such methods I have left it alone...perhaps someone could explain how to remove it in photoshop elements?.....Please!!

It's a wonder this camera works at all given how it appears to have been abused.

The meter is totally unreliable, the rear door has been prised open by the looks of it by someone who presumably had not a clue how to open the film door! and the lens, oh the lens....a Chinon 135mm with an aperture ring that when set at F/2.8 is actually F/4 and each subsequent aperture is a stop out....goodness knows what the previous owner has done to it!....fortuanatly I have plenty of other M42 fit lenses that i can use!

As it is the body still remains light tight and the whole lens/body combination works in a fashion and best of all it has a zanny strap!!

Cool....I've no doubt it's dead easy....will have to make effort to learn more about the pp program I have so I can sort it as quick as you just have! :thumbs:
 
Dead easy - yeah, just like brain surgery. :D It becomes dead easy once you've done the frustrating, cat-kicking, sweary bit necessary to get to the 'dead easy' bit. Rather like photography, really... (actually, cloning is pretty easy - and very satisfying.)
 
OK well I've had a play for 10 mins.....as you say John it's like anything, it takes time and practice to get it spot on nonetheless to say i've never done it before I considered this attempt "not bad for a beginner"! lol

That's a very good try heather ...tbh I can easily see it resembling a seat BUT I'm afraid you're now in competition with Rob as to who is going to grovel for the answer first!!:D

A few clues...it is outdoors although could be indoors also, it is something that most if not all of us would see on a daily basis....probably many dozens of them, hundreds in fact depending on what your daily activities involve and they are extremely varied in their appearance hence this one is "different".

Another good try but I'm afraid it's nothing whatsoever to do with cameras.

You are lukewarm I guess with your mention of covering....not unlike Rob mentioning a cobbled floor..... along with my clue about being extremely varied in appearance...... difficult to say much more without giving it away really.

Let's try this as another clue.....you can be alongside (or even on top of one)... or you can be surrounded by them!

Well Heather it looks like your on a roll with winning competitions lately. .....It is in actual fact an external wall of the local swimming baths which is indeed covered in a tiled finish.

Taken using the Zuiko 50mm lens.....Having DOF preview does help at times with shots like this!

I have to confess that my initial feelings towards this OM-10 are very positive even though I only ran half a roll of film through it for testing purposes.

I've been watching a few of them lately...this one was a bit of a gamble as not tested with film but the price i got it for was a steal so me is well pleased!

Week 30: "Jazzy"

This is a statue of Mile Davis, an American Jazz musician (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miles_Davis) located infront of the prestigious Negresco Hotel in Nice.

Although Jazz msic is very popular down here, I'm personally not a great fan of it, being more drawn to Rock and Pop.

This camera is in full working order complete with its instruction leaflet and remains of its original cardboard box.

Originally used A8 film which is basically 127 format film, however i used a piece of cut sheet film for this one exposure.

Week 31: Time for another name change perhaps?

Formerly known as Speke Airport, RAF Speke, and Liverpool Airport, it is presently known as Liverpool John Lennon Airport but for how long one wonders!!

Grabbed this shot whilst killing time waiting to check-in on my way home from the UK at the beginning of this month.

Tbh I had a handful of frames left over from my Leeds photoshoot with Rob Hooley...they were just itching to be used up!:D

Another great selection of cameras and shots Asha, you're really doing your best to catch up with Rob. The little Zeiss Baby Box camera is excellent and the Jaws shot is fantastic, it really shows off the quality of the RZ, I'll be digging mine out soon and hope I can come up with as good a shot.
