Hi

Can anyone tell me how to insert the artists name and copyright into your EXIF data please. I am using Opanda IEXIF 2.3
Not sure where you insert artist name in Opanda or my Camera. I have read my camera manual but cant find any info on how to do it.

Ive got a feeling its in photoshop if you have that.

Photoshop?

mmm..... when i load the image onto my computer i then open it for veiwing in Canons software called "Zoom Browse EX". This shows all the EXIF data before it goes into photoshop CS3.

# shoots off to look into photoshop #

Well, what I mean is............mine has it in the exif data and I dont use zoom browser!

Mine has it in the EXIF data as "Artist: Unknown" however i veiw the exif data.
Have you inserted your name into the exif data Janice?

Nice gallery by the way

I'm sure I added it via the 'EOS Utility' software that came with my 400D. I'm also sure that I did it whilst using the 'remote shooting' facility.

Im REALLY sorry but I cant remember!! :cuckoo:

I thought I did it once on Photoshop ages ago and it just stays there when you upgrade.

Leave it with me! :D

I might stand corrected... I will check! Never too proud to admit when Im WRONG!!! I cant afford to be... it happens so often! :D

Women, wrong. surely not ;)

Thanks Janice.

Gofer, just looked through software that came with camera and found i have not loaded the EOS utility. Thanks i will load that and have a look.

If you use the 'EOS Utility' software to download pictures from your Canon camera to your computer that same software has the facility to operate your camera remotely. If you select 'camera setting/remote shooting' once you've opened the EOS Utility you'll see in the bottom right hand corner a 'tools' option icon. It's in that 'tools' option that you can add the name of the camera owner. Whatever name you put in there will be entered into the exif data. Obviously you'll need to have your camera connected to the computer to be able to use the 'camera settings/ remote shooting' facility.

Thanks Gofer

I use a card reader and have never connected the camera to my computer.
Just connected it and Windows Vista reconized it and was happy, but the flip'in Canon software does'nt recognize the flip'in Canon camera :annoyed::bang:
Dont mention "plug + play" :annoyed:

Thats it, unplugged the USB lead and strangled the camera with it, back to my beer

[s3]I love Canon Software[/s3]

If I did that originally (I once had the utility loaded but not now) then how come new shots have it in when they are loaded by lightroom and then into photoshop and not touched by the Utility at all?
When they are loaded off the camera and looked at in bridge first they still have it.

Perhaps Janice, that once you have entered the artists details with the EOS software, the camera might store that info in its memory.

I could be wrong though Janice :D

Actually, thinking of it logically (as us women do!) it MUST be in the camera when it is joined to the pc by the usb lead.
A friend had a camera and when I looked at the exif shot it said someone elses name on them as she had bought it used.

If the author came via photoshop or anything on her pc it wouldnt have had the other persons name on...it must have arrived there by the used camera when plugging it in.

PURE LOGIC!! ;)

So Janice are you saying that im a man and im right :D, thats its stored in the camera as I said earlier?

I've used Adobe Bridge for adding to the EXIF info of pictures. It allows you to highlight lots of files and add many changes to lots of files at once.

There are probably free utilities which can do a similar job. Hopefully someone will post for those who don't have Photoshop.

When I connect my cam via usb, or use a card reader, Elements photodownloader opens. Useing the advanced (think thats what its called) screen, bottom right are 2 boxes in which you can enter a copyright and artist name. This is then embedded in the exif data.

but that has to be done on each image.

When done with the camera joined to the pc i think it is automatically in every image after that.

Am I right in saying that people can use different software to enter information on the EXIF data, then this is stored on the camera once connected to the computer.

Or am I hopelessly wrong :D

Think you have just answerd my question Janice, thanks.

No, the changes to the EXIF data are stored in the image, not the camera. The changes are made after the image has been taken, via a computer.

As an aside, I can add a comment to all my images with my Nikon D200, which I do to add a copyright comment. I'm not sure many cameras have that facility though.

Thanks Redhed17, Looks like i will have to reload my Canon software utility.

The 'Camera Window' utility that comes with the camera does it. Just done mine a couple of days ago since buying it secondhand. You can set the date and time, name of owner and format the card from there too.

Thanks everyone, im sorted now.

Had to download an update for the Canon EOS Utility so that it would work with windows vista.

Byrht, the Canon software recognised the Canon camera before, didn't it?

So M$ Vista is the prob.
As usual.

Congrats on your OS upgrade! You must be tickled pink . . .

:woot:
