Oh I agree about the experience and regular being more likely to know more, was just curious about the state of specials in your force.

I used to read some horror stories of some forces, while many others were exemplary and specials were widely accepted within the force.

I had a guard at Victoria station tell me that it was illegal for me to take pictures inside the station and if the police caught me they would take my film/delete the pics. I stopped and left, any advice?

Railways are like docks, military establishments and nuclear power stations. They are a special case. If I remember you cannot take pictures but I could well be wrong. I have seen train spotters with camera before. Railways are covered by British transport police so I'm not exactly sure. If I remember I will check tomorrow.
 
Railtrack PLC or whoever it is owns all the stations have issued a statement saying that it's fine to take photos in their stations IIRC.
